Internal IT “Green coding”

Wat is de impact van niet geoptimaliseerde code en grote frameworks op het energieverbruik / de CO2 uitstoot van klanten? Bepaalde klanten draaien grote batch jobs die soms uren duren. Hoe kunnen we iets dergelijks in kaart brengen met het oog op mogelijke besparingen? “Green coding” bestaan er tools/frameworks waarmee wij en/of onze klanten efficiëntere code kunnen schrijven om zo stroom/uitstoot te besparen. En hoe maken we dit meetbaar? Welke tools zijn hiervoor beschikbaar?

Internal IT “Communicatie”

Interne informatievoorziening via ons narrowcasting scherm. Graag advies over hoe we dit scherm optimaal kunnen gebruiken voor collega’s en bezoekers.

Internal IT “Marktonderzoek”

Onderzoek naar een mogelijke vervanger voor ons datacenter. Een adviesopdracht om door middel van een marktonderzoek naar een geschikt datacenter in elk geval op de volgende punten: Security (NIS2/Dora), duurzaam, locatie, connectiviteit en NEN voorwaarden, een adviesrapport te schrijven aan de directie.

PeopleSoft Integration Broker and SNI: A New Option in PeopleTools 8.62

For years, PeopleSoft Integration Broker (IB) has had a known limitation when making outbound HTTPS calls to servers requiring SNI (Server Name Indication). By default, IB resolves hostnames to IP addresses before establishing the TLS handshake. While functional in many cases, this approach prevents Java from sending the hostname in the TLS handshake, causing connections to fail on SNI-required endpoints, especially common in modern cloud environments.

This has historically required a workaround using the integrationGateway.properties file, where you had to list all service operation aliases requiring SNI: ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames=MYSOP1.v1,MYSOP2.v1
With this setting, IB would preserve the hostname for those specific outbound calls, enabling SNI support.

The New Approach in PeopleTools 8.62
PeopleTools 8.62 introduces a simpler and more robust way to handle SNI.

New Global Option: ig.UseDomainName
# By default, hostnames in URLs are converted to IP addresses in Integration Gateway.
# Setting this property to TRUE instructs Integration Gateway to use domain names for all HTTP/HTTPS connections
# unless overridden by an individual HTTP Target Connector property (Use-DomainName=N).
ig.UseDomainName=TRUE

Benefits of this new option:

· No longer necessary to maintain a long list of service operation aliases in ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames.

· Automatically preserves the hostname for all outbound HTTPS calls, enabling SNI wherever required.

· Simplifies configuration and reduces maintenance, especially in environments with multiple service operations.

Legacy Option Still Available

For selective use, the old property is still supported:
ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames=MYSOP1.v1, MYSOP2.v1

· This allows you to enable domain-name usage for specific integrations only.

· Values are comma-separated; no spaces.

Steps to Enable the Feature

Open your integrationGateway.properties file.
Add or update the new property: ig.UseDomainName=TRUE
3. (Optional) If needed, list any service operation aliases in the legacy property: ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames=
Restart the Integration Gateway web server to apply changes.

PeopleSoft Integration Broker en SNI: een nieuwe optie in PeopleTools 8.62

PeopleSoft Integration Broker (IB) had jarenlang een bekende beperking bij het uitvoeren van outbound HTTPS calls naar servers die SNI (Server Name Indication) vereisen.

Standaard resolveert IB hostnames naar IP-adressen voordat de TLS handshake wordt opgezet. Hoewel dit in veel situaties werkt, voorkomt deze aanpak dat Java de hostname meestuurt in de TLS handshake. Hierdoor falen verbindingen naar endpoints waarvoor SNI verplicht is, iets wat steeds vaker voorkomt in moderne cloudomgevingen.

Historisch gezien was hiervoor een workaround nodig via het bestand integrationGateway.properties, waarbij alle service operation aliases die SNI vereisten expliciet moesten worden opgegeven:

ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames=MYSOP1.v1, MYSOP2.v1

Met deze instelling behield IB de hostname voor deze specifieke outbound calls, waardoor SNI correct werd ondersteund.

De nieuwe aanpak in PeopleTools 8.62

PeopleTools 8.62 introduceert een eenvoudigere en robuustere manier om met SNI om te gaan.

Nieuwe globale property: ig.UseDomainName

# By default, hostnames in URLs are converted to IP addresses in Integration Gateway.

# Setting this property to TRUE instructs Integration Gateway to use domain names for all HTTP/HTTPS connections,

Voordelen van deze nieuwe optie

· Het is niet langer nodig om een lange lijst met service operation aliases te onderhouden in

· ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames.

· De hostname wordt automatisch behouden voor alle outbound HTTPS calls, waardoor SNI support standaard werkt waar nodig.

· Vereenvoudigt de configuratie en verlaagt de onderhoudslast, vooral in omgevingen met veel service operations.

Legacy optie blijft beschikbaar

Voor selectief gebruik blijft de bestaande property ondersteund:

ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames=MYSOP1.v1,MYSOP2.v1

· Hiermee kan domain-name usage per specifieke integratie worden ingeschakeld.

· Waarden zijn comma-separated, zonder spaties.

Stappen om de feature te activeren

1. Open het bestand integrationGateway.properties.

2. Voeg de nieuwe property toe of werk deze bij: ig.UseDomainName=TRUE

3. (Optioneel) Voeg service operation aliases toe via de legacy property: ig.UseDomainName.ExternalOperationNames=

4. Restart de Integration Gateway web server om de wijzigingen toe te passen.

JMeter & PeopleSoft: pioneering performance testing

Performance testing is crucial for delivering reliable IT services. But what if there is hardly any documentation on how to properly test your specific systems? MCX took on exactly that challenge by combining JMeter and PeopleSoft - a journey that started with frustration but ended in innovation.

‘It was a struggle, but that's exactly what makes the end result so satisfying.’ says Anu Khurana, Subject Matter Expert at MCX. Read Anu's full blog post below:

Why this project is special

In November 2024, MCX colleague Anu, embarked on an ambitious project: PeopleSoft load testing with JMeter. What quickly became clear is that there is little to no information available on the internet on how to properly integrate JMeter with PeopleSoft. No tutorials, no forums, no reference projects - it was pioneering from scratch.

Yet we succeeded: we can now run full-fledged load tests on PeopleSoft environments, with scripts that accurately mimic what users do in everyday use. From successful login and navigation to updating pages and executing processes: it has all been tested in an automated and scalable way.

What customers can now do with it

The biggest benefit? Scalable testing before the system goes live.

Thanks to automated JMeter scripts, we can simulate realistic user scenarios and pinpoint bottlenecks. This gives customers control over the performance of their PeopleSoft environment before end users even start using it. This is crucial for major releases, updates, or migrations.

From challenge to breakthrough

The biggest technical bump? Properly recording and executing actions within PeopleSoft. Many components, such as popup screens and process triggers, proved difficult to capture in a script. The solution did not come from the internet - but from persevering, testing, failing and trying again.

'We got stuck time and again, but with small steps, we got further each time,’

Anu says. A major breakthrough came when the first successful updates succeeded on pages via JMeter. The last major obstacle - updating popup pages - was not solved until early 2025. This brought the project to where we are today: a working, robust solution ready for use.

Collaboration and learning moments

Although no direct customer projects have yet been carried out with this load testing solution, the interest is there: Skema and CY2, among others, have already expressed interest. Internally, collaboration was a driving force.

What we do differently next time

Documentation. The key lesson is that it pays to carefully document all obstacles and solutions along the way. Not only for your own reuse, but also to make knowledge transferable for colleagues and the wider tech community.

Why this project should be shared

There is virtually no content online about the PeopleSoft + JMeter combination. By sharing our experiences and methodology, others in the tech community can benefit. Whether you work at another PeopleSoft customer, or face this challenge yourself as a consultant: this breakthrough makes load testing more accessible and efficient.

JMeter & PeopleSoft: pionieren in performance testing

Performance testing is cruciaal voor het leveren van betrouwbare IT-diensten. Maar wat als er nauwelijks documentatie bestaat over hoe je jouw specifieke systemen goed kunt testen? Precies die uitdaging ging MCX aan met het combineren van JMeter en PeopleSoft – een traject dat begon met frustratie, maar eindigde in innovatie.

“Het was een worsteling, maar juist dat maakt het eindresultaat zo bevredigend.” Zegt Anu Khurana, Subject Matter Expert bij MCX. Lees het volledige blog van Anu hieronder.

Waarom dit project bijzonder is

In november 2024 begon MCX-collega Anu, aan een ambitieus project: PeopleSoft loadtesten met JMeter. Wat al snel duidelijk werd, is dat er op het internet nauwelijks tot geen informatie beschikbaar is over hoe je JMeter goed integreert met PeopleSoft. Geen tutorials, geen forums, geen referentieprojecten – het was pionieren vanaf nul.

Toch is het gelukt: inmiddels kunnen we volwaardige loadtests uitvoeren op PeopleSoft-omgevingen , met scripts die nauwkeurig nabootsen wat gebruikers in het dagelijks gebruik doen. Van succesvol inloggen en navigeren tot het updaten van pagina’s en het uitvoeren van processen: het is allemaal geautomatiseerd en schaalbaar getest.

Wat klanten hier nu mee kunnen

De grootste winst? Schaalbaar testen vóórdat het systeem live gaat.

Dankzij de geautomatiseerde JMeter-scripts kunnen we realistische gebruikersscenario’s simuleren, en zo precies meten waar bottlenecks zitten. Dit geeft klanten grip op de prestaties van hun PeopleSoft-omgeving, nog vóórdat eindgebruikers ermee aan de slag gaan. Dat is cruciaal bij grote releases, updates of migraties.

Op deze afbeelding is te zien dat we de domeinstatus van een PeopleSoft-omgeving kunnen valideren via JMeter zonder dat we hoeven in te loggen op de PeopleSoft-frontend.

Wat we de volgende keer anders doen

Documentatie. De belangrijkste les is dat het loont om onderweg alle obstakels en oplossingen zorgvuldig vast te leggen. Niet alleen voor eigen hergebruik, maar ook om kennis overdraagbaar te maken voor collega’s en de bredere techcommunity.

Waarom dit project gedeeld moet worden

Er is nagenoeg geen content online over de combinatie PeopleSoft + JMeter. Door onze ervaringen en werkwijze te delen, kunnen anderen in de technische gemeenschap hiervan profiteren. Van uitdaging naar doorbraak

De grootste technische hobbel? Het goed opnemen en uitvoeren van acties binnen PeopleSoft. Veel onderdelen, zoals popup-schermen en proces triggers, bleken lastig te vangen in een script. De oplossing kwam niet van het internet – maar uit doorzetten, testen, falen en nog eens proberen.

“We liepen keer op keer vast, maar met kleine stapjes kwamen we telkens verder.”

Geeft Anu aan. Een belangrijke doorbraak kwam toen de eerste succesvolle updates op pagina’s via JMeter lukten. Het laatste grote obstakel – het bijwerken van popup-pagina’s – werd pas begin 2025 opgelost. Daarmee kwam het project op de plek waar we nu staan: een werkende, robuuste oplossing die klaar is voor gebruik.

Samenwerking en leermomenten

Hoewel er nog geen directe klantprojecten zijn uitgevoerd met deze loadtestoplossing, is de interesse er wel: onder andere Skema en CY2 hebben al interesse getoond. Intern was de samenwerking een drijvende kracht.

Log4Shell vulnerability

Log4Shell vulnerability found in several Oracle products

15-12-2021:

MCX is aware that a new vulnerability has been found in Log4j: CVE-2021-45046. While this new vulnerability is not critical, its description may indicate that Oracle's provided solution to the original issue (CVE-2021-44228) may not be correct and/or complete. However, the news is still so fresh that Oracle has not yet been able to publish any updates on MOS.

Customers with environments that are accessible for the entire internet have already been informed of this development by MCX. Advice has been given to temporarily restrict access to these environments or to take them completely offline. Some of the customers have implemented a possible fix.

As soon as Oracle provides updates, we will inform our customers the usual way.

12-12-2021:

On My Oracle Support note 2827611.1 a list is created of patches that are available for the products affected by Log4Shell. At this moment (10am) only two products have patches available. Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft are not yet on that list. When more information becomes available we will inform you.

11-12-2021:

On December 11th, 2021, Oracle has posted a vulnerability on their website, named as Log4Shell, which is applicable to Apache Log4j. At this moment (11-12-2021, 12.30) nog patch is applicable. MCX stays on top of the news. When a patch becomes available, MCX will create an impact analysis and will inform impacted customers for further follow-up. The intrusion detection system has been updated to detect vulnerability exploitation of this bug.

TOPdesk live bij MCX

TOPdesk is een tool waarmee er minder tijd besteed wordt aan het registreren van meldingen en waardoor er meer tijd over is om verbeterde dienstverlening te bieden. Lees hier meer over de start van MCX met TOPdesk.

Vanaf 1 december is TOPdesk live bij MCX

Met deze servicemanagement software gaan we onze dienstverlening nog beter maken. Zo kunnen we onze klanten hiermee een goed overzicht van al hun tickets geven en ook bieden we makkelijk in te vullen formulieren aan om tickets te genereren. Door gebruik te maken van TOPdesk, verbeteren we de samenwerking met onze klanten en vergroten we de efficiëntie.

Het TOPdesk portaal is tot nu toe ontwikkeld om de volgende verzoeken af te handelen:

De komende maanden zullen we stapsgewijs meerdere klanten aansluiten op dit nieuwe portaal. Dit gaat geleidelijk omdat er veel handmatige en eenmalige instellingen per klant nodig zijn om TOPdesk in te richten. In de toekomst verwachten we deze eenmalige instellingen verder te kunnen automatiseren, geheel volgens motto van MCX: alles wat je 2x moet doen, kun je automatiseren.

Koppelingen met andere Service applicaties komen in een later stadium. Klanten worden tijdig ingelicht voordat ze worden aangesloten op TOPdesk.

Jerica's passion

In May 2021, Jerica joined MCX as application manager of TOPdesk. A Service management application that has only recently been used within MCX. As the person responsible for this application, Jerica is involved in the furnishing and further development and she does this with great enthusiasm. But TOPdesk is not her only passion!

TOPdesk has few secrets for Jerica. After all, she already had her first acquaintance with this application in 2009 when she was working as a service desk employee at a municipality. After years of being a major user of the application, it became clear that her qualities lie in setting up and further developing TOPdesk. But, as she herself points out; “It's great that there is still a lot to learn about this platform”.

The focus at MCX is mainly on automating actions. For example, she learned to make so-called 'action sequences' in TOPdesk, a skill she had not mastered before. With these action sequences it is also possible to integrate TOPdesk with other systems. It gives Jerica a lot of energy and satisfaction to do this especially if the action sequences succeed!

Energy she also gets from her travels to Sao Miguel. An island that lies in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and is the largest part of the Azores. Since the very first visit, in 2016, she has been very impressed by the nature, the atmosphere and the phenomenal view. So much so that she will soon be 'test living' there! A house has been rented, the laptop and keyboard are put in the suitcase and an extra monitor from the landlord is reserved. The wifi has also been checked and it seems to work well. All that remains now is a workplace with a view of the ocean. And if that works out, it could well be that she will leave for Sao Miguel for good in the future!

"For me personally, it is less important what the content of my work is but important in which environment I work, the atmosphere has to be right and that is certainly the case at MCX!" Tells MCX colleague Bert with enthusiasm.

If you want to earn money fast then I would advise you to go to another company, we don't work with targets here. Also, the opportunities for advancement at MCX may be slightly more limited than at large organisations but there are many other advantages here; the positions here are broader and responsibilities greater. If you enjoy broadening or deepening your technical knowledge, MCX is the right place for you.

Moreover, I want to be treated the way I treat others. This is also the director's vision and you notice it at MCX. This honest business makes it easier in contact with customers. They know we are reliable. I wouldn't want to work at a company where honesty is an unimportant value. The trait of loyalty also comes to mind when I think of MCX. This is a trait I see in my colleagues. Everyone is equal here, no one is more important than the other.

The freedom to organise my own work and the responsibility that comes with it suits me well. I got used to this during my internship and now I don't want to leave.

I like to think about the problem and possible solutions to complex issues for customers, spar about them with my colleagues and then, either by myself or together, work on the best option. But future-proofing our own IT landscape is also one of my tasks. This ensures that you have to think just a little bit further than the short term. Precisely because we have a large landscape, the impact of changes can be big.

'Honest business' is a very important value to me and MCX fortunately does too. Because clients have 'fixed price' with us, I can work with my colleagues on sustainable solutions without worrying about the number of hours. We can then use those solutions for multiple customers. That way, we work on quality and efficiency.

The short lines within this company help create a good atmosphere. We treat each other very informally and the basis is trust, which I really like. I appreciate the colleagues who exchanged their sleep for counting down to my birthday during our annual MCX weekend. That very much characterises the togetherness at MCX.

Despite it being 'normal' to work from home here, my advice to my new colleagues is to come to the office every working day in the beginning. The chats at the coffee machine yield a lot, such as information about a new customer or a tender. And besides, your presence contributes (faster) to the togetherness feeling I described above.

"Het is voor mij persoonlijk minder belangrijk wat de inhoud van mijn werkzaamheden is maar wel belangrijk in welke omgeving ik werk, de sfeer moet goed zitten en dat is bij MCX zeker het geval!" Vertelt MCX-collega Bert met enthousiasme.

Als je snel geld wilt verdienen dan zou ik je adviseren naar een ander bedrijf te gaan, met targets werken we hier niet. Ook zijn de doorgroeimogelijkheden bij MCX wellicht iets beperkter dan bij grote organisaties maar hier zijn veel andere voordelen; de functies zijn hier breder en verantwoordelijkheden groter. Als je het leuk vindt om jouw technische kennis te verbreden of verdiepen, dan zit je bij MCX goed.

Bovendien wil ik behandeld worden op de manier waarop ik anderen behandel. Dit is ook de visie van de directeur en dat merk je bij MCX. Dit eerlijk zakendoen maakt het makkelijker in contact met klanten. Ze weten dat we betrouwbaar zijn. Ik zou niet bij een bedrijf willen werken waar eerlijkheid een onbelangrijke waarde is. Ook de eigenschap loyaliteit komt bij mij naar boven als ik aan MCX denk. Dit is een eigenschap die ik terugzie bij mijn collega’s. Iedereen is hier gelijk, niemand is belangrijker dan de ander.

Het is leuk om te werken bij een bedrijf waar de directeur een collega is, en dat hij ook nog eens heel toegankelijk is, maakt het alleen maar makkelijker.

Maar die openheid geldt niet alleen voor de directeur, eigenlijk zijn alle collega’s fijne mensen om mee samen te werken. Patchen van ExaCS-clusters met OCI-CLI

Het is belangrijk om je ExaCS-clusters up-to-date te houden. In dit artikel legt collega Mark Kempers, Infrastructuur Specialist bij MCX, een aantal basisstappen uit.

Mark vertrelt: "In dit geval heb ik een interactief script gemaakt, zodat ik de hele patchcyclus in mijn terminal kan uitvoeren zonder via de console te hoeven klikken. Het laat me de omgeving kiezen, welke update ik wil prechecken/toepassen en geeft me de status van de patch.

Dit kan handig zijn als niet elke medewerker toegang heeft tot de OCI-console, maar wel het systeem moet patchen. Uw DBA of Service Desk Engineer kan dit bijvoorbeeld zonder tools doen. Voer gewoon het script uit! Laten we ons dus eens verdiepen in het script.

Ik ga me nu richten op het ophalen van de GRID/OS-patches voor één VM-cluster van de ExaCS-infrastructuur. Laten we beginnen met de vereisten.

Zorg ervoor dat u een Linux-machine hebt geïnstalleerd met oci-cli en jq. Raadpleeg deze documentatie voor het installeren en configureren van oci-cli.

In dit geval heb ik een ExaCS-infrastructuur met 4 verschillende clusters. Eén voor elke OTAP-omgeving (Ontwikkeling, Test, Acceptatie en Productie). Het doel is om alle omgevingen hetzelfde te houden.

Het script bouwen

Zorg ervoor dat u begint met het declareren van alle benodigde variabelen. In dit geval hebben we de OCID's voor alle ExaCS VM-clusters en de huidige datum in UTC nodig. Dat ziet er ongeveer zo uit:

Patching ExaCS clusters using OCI-CLI

It's important to keep your ExaCS clusters up to date. In this article, colleague Mark Kempers, Infrastructure Specialist at MCX, explains some basic steps.

"In my case I made an interactive script so I can do the whole patch cycle in my terminal without clicking through the console. It lets me choose the environment, which update I would like to precheck/apply and provides me the status of the patch.

This can become helpful if not every employee can access the OCI console, but needs to patch the system. For example your DBA or Service Desk Engineer can do it without any tools. Just run the script!

So, let's take a dive into the scripting.

Right now, I will focus on fetching the GRID/OS patches for one VM cluster of the ExaCS infrastructure.

Let's start with the prerequisites.

Make sure you have a Linux machine installed with the oci-cli and jq. Refer to this piece of documentation on how in to install and configure the oci-cli.

In this case I have an ExaCS infrastructure with 4 different clusters. One for each DTAP (Development, Test, Acceptance and Production) environment. The goal is to keep all environments the same.

Building the script

Make sure you start with declaring all variables you need. In this case we need the OCIDs for all ExaCS VM clusters and today's date in UTC. Which will look something like this:

The next step will be to fetch all the patches available for a cluster. Of course we want a friendly formatted output. As oci-cli gives the output in JSON, we will format it to a readable table. Here is an example:

When running this, the result will be a table in your terminal with the OCID of the patch, description, version, release time and available action (ROLLING-APPLY/PRECHECK).

Now it is important that you save the OCID of the specific patch you would like to install so we can kick off the precheck for that patch. Here is how to start the precheck.

So now we would like to know when the precheck is finished. As soon as the precheck starts we run a script to ask for the current status of the precheck. Every job that is running will already be stored in the history, but with a specific lifecycle state. The three most important lifecycle-states are FAILED, IN PROGRESS or SUCCEEDED. So let's see how that will look like.

The script below will ask for the status of that specific job every 60 seconds for 60 minutes. It will keep going for the time the status is 'IN PROGRESS'. It will finish as soon as it reach the status FAILED or SUCCEEDED. When reaching FAILED it will exit the script, when SUCCEEDED it will continue to apply the patch.

MIG(ng): The Digital Backbone of MCX

At MCX, innovation never stands still. A prime example is the development of MIG(ng) – an internal project that has since grown into a key digital hub within our organization. We spoke with one of the initiators about this unique project.

What once started as an idea – the MCX Information Gateway (MIG) – has grown into an indispensable link between our internal systems. MIG(ng), the latest version, is designed to function as a central hub. Through smart API integrations, the platform connects systems like ODOO and TOPdesk, ensuring information is streamlined, reliable, and available in a single location.

"I conceived of the MIG concept years ago," says the developer. "Now it's really taking shape. And that's something to be proud of."

What makes MIG(ng) so special is its broad impact. It touches every part of the organization: from technology to processes, from management to administration. The implementation of "One Source of Truth" ensures that each system has its own role. ODOO manages customer and contact information, MIG and Ansible provide host information and environments, while TOPdesk is used for incidents and changes.

Impact on the entire organization

A long-term project

The development of MIG(ng) isn't a sprint, but a marathon. "We've been working on this for years," explains the developer. "After all, the systems keep running, so you have to build the new situation alongside the old one without disrupting daily operations. That makes it complex."

Internally, the collaboration within the development team was excellent. However, we encountered challenges. Changes that affect multiple teams require careful coordination. Moreover, it's difficult to determine in advance exactly what colleagues need. "Too often, as a development team, we have to figure out how to solve something ourselves."

Another lesson learned? More streamlined communication upfront. "SCRUM could have helped us with that, but due to circumstances, it hasn't happened yet. That's still on our wish list."

MIG(ng) has fundamentally changed MCX as an organization. Where we previously stored contacts in different locations and each system had its own login, this is now centralized, transparent, and much less prone to errors.

This project demonstrates what's possible with vision, collaboration, and technical innovation. And that makes MIG(ng) not just a technical success – but above all, an organization-wide step forward.

Bij MCX staat innovatie niet stil. Een mooi voorbeeld daarvan is de ontwikkeling van MIG(ng) – een intern project dat inmiddels is uitgegroeid tot een belangrijke digitale spil binnen onze organisatie. We spraken met een van de initiatiefnemers over dit bijzondere traject.

Wat ooit begon als een idee – de MCX Information Gateway (MIG) – is uitgegroeid tot een onmisbare schakel tussen onze interne systemen. MIG(ng), de nieuwste versie, is opgezet om als ‘spin in het web’ te functioneren. ODOO beheert klant- en contactgegevens, MIG en Ansible zorgen voor hostinformatie en omgevingen, terwijl TOPdesk wordt gebruikt voor incidenten en wijzigingen.

Wat het concreet oplevert

De ontwikkeling van MIG(ng) is geen sprint, maar een marathon. "We zijn hier al jaren mee bezig," legt de ontwikkelaar uit. "De systemen blijven immers draaien, dus je moet de nieuwe situatie naast de oude opbouwen zonder de dagelijkse werkzaamheden te verstoren. Dat maakt het complex."

Intern was de samenwerking binnen het ontwikkelteam uitstekend. Toch liepen we tegen uitdagingen aan. Veranderingen die meerdere teams raken, vragen om zorgvuldige afstemming. Bovendien is het lastig om vooraf helder te krijgen wat collega’s precies nodig hebben. “Te vaak moeten we als ontwikkelteam zelf bedenken hoe iets opgelost moet worden.”

Een ander leerpunt? Strakkere communicatie vooraf. "SCRUM had ons daarbij kunnen helpen, maar door omstandigheden is dat er nog niet van gekomen. Dat staat nog op onze wensenlijst."

MIG(ng) heeft MCX als organisatie fundamenteel veranderd. Waar we eerder op verschillende plekken contactpersonen opsloegen en ieder systeem z’n eigen inlog had, is dat nu gecentraliseerd, overzichtelijk en veel minder foutgevoelig.

Dit project laat zien wat er mogelijk is met visie, samenwerking en technische innovatie. En dat maakt MIG(ng) niet alleen een technisch succes – maar vooral een organisatiebrede stap vooruit.

Internationale kennisuitwisseling op psadmin.conf in Minneapolis

Onlangs woonde het PeopleSoft-team van MCX de psadmin.conf conferentie in Minneapolis bij – een toonaangevend evenement voor PeopleSoft beheerders, georganiseerd door Kyle Benson van psadmin.io.

Tijdens deze conferentie kwamen beheerders, engineers en specialisten van over de hele wereld samen om kennis en ervaringen te delen. Voor MCX betekende dit een waardevolle kans om inzichten op te doen in de nieuwste tools en best practices, zoals het PeopleSoft Health Center en geautomatiseerd beheer met Ansible.

Naast de inspirerende sessies, bood psadmin.conf hands-on training labs gericht op tools die de efficiëntie van Peoplesoft omgevingen kunnen verbeteren, zoals het Peoplesoft Health Center en het gebruik van Ansible.

Slimmer monitoren met het PeopleSoft Health Center
Tijdens psadmin.conf kwam opnieuw naar voren hoe krachtig het PeopleSoft Health Center is als monitoringtool – en hoe weinig het wereldwijd nog wordt benut.

Bij MCX zetten we deze gratis en eenvoudig te configureren functionaliteit al succesvol in voor het monitoren van diverse omgevingen, waaronder productieomgevingen. Het Health Center biedt inzichtelijke dashboards en ingebouwde waarschuwingen – zowel binnen de PeopleSoft interface als via e-mail – waarmee mogelijke verstoringen vroegtijdig worden gesignaleerd.

Een waardevolle toevoeging dus voor wie de stabiliteit en performance van zijn PeopleSoft-landschap serieus neemt.

Efficiënt PeopleSoft-beheer met Ansible
Een van de opvallende tools tijdens psadmin.conf was Ansible – een krachtig platform voor het geautomatiseerd beheren van externe servers. Binnen MCX gebruiken we Ansible onder andere voor het starten en stoppen van omgevingen en het toepassen van CPU-patches.

Deze aanpak biedt niet alleen meer controle en consistentie, maar verlaagt ook de kans op fouten bij repeterende beheertaken. De komende periode gaan we bij MCX verder verkennen hoe we Ansible breder kunnen inzetten binnen onze infrastructuur – altijd met het doel om onze PeopleSoft-dienstverlening nóg slimmer en efficiënter te maken.

MCX tools in de spotlight: Spock en Gisgo
Tijdens psadmin.conf kregen we de gelegenheid om twee van onze eigen MCX-tools te presenteren aan een internationaal publiek van PeopleSoft-specialisten:

Spock – onze geautomatiseerde patchtool die het toepassen van CPU’s binnen PeopleSoft-omgevingen versnelt, vereenvoudigt en standaardiseert.
Gisgo – een intuïtieve GUI waarmee beheerders en functioneel beheerders veelvoorkomende PSadmin-taken kunnen uitvoeren, zónder diep in de techniek te hoeven duiken.

De reacties op beide oplossingen waren zeer positief. Het was waardevol om onze aanpak te delen én inzichten terug te krijgen van collega’s uit het veld. Daarnaast voerden we inspirerende gesprekken met andere deelnemers én met belangrijke leden uit het Oracle PeopleTools executive team:

International knowledge sharing at psadmin.conf in Minneapolis

Recently, MCX's PeopleSoft team attended the psadmin.conf conference in Minneapolis - a leading event for PeopleSoft administrators, organised by @Kyle Benson of psadmin.io.

This conference brought together administrators, engineers and specialists from all over the world to share knowledge and experiences. For MCX, this meant a valuable opportunity to gain insights into the latest tools and best practices, such as the PeopleSoft Health Center and automated management with Ansible.

In addition to the inspiring sessions, psadmin.conf offered hands-on training labs focused on tools that can improve the efficiency of Peoplesoft environments, such as the Peoplesoft Health Center and the use of Ansible.

Monitoring smarter with the PeopleSoft Health Center

During psadmin.conf, it emerged once again how powerful the PeopleSoft Health Center is as a monitoring tool - and how little it is still used worldwide.

At MCX, we are already successfully deploying this free and easily configurable functionality for monitoring various environments, including production environments. The Health Center offers insightful dashboards and built-in alerts - both within the PeopleSoft interface and via e-mail - that allow early detection of potential disruptions.

A valuable addition, therefore, for those who take the stability and performance of their PeopleSoft landscape seriously.

Efficient PeopleSoft management with Ansible

One of the standout tools during psadmin.conf was Ansible - a powerful platform for automated management of remote servers. Within MCX, we use Ansible for, among other things, starting and stopping environments and applying CPU patches.

This approach not only provides more control and consistency, but also reduces the risk of errors in repetitive management tasks. In the coming period, we at MCX will further explore how we can deploy Ansible more widely within our infrastructure - always with the aim of making our PeopleSoft services even smarter and more efficient.

MCX tools in the spotlight: Spock and Gisgo

During psadmin.conf, we had the opportunity to present two of our own MCX tools to an international audience of PeopleSoft specialists:

Spock - our automated patching tool that speeds up, simplifies and standardises CPU application within PeopleSoft environments.
Gisgo - an intuitive GUI that allows administrators and functional managers to perform common PSadmin tasks without having to dive deep into technology.

Reactions to both solutions were very positive. It was valuable to share our approach and get insights back from colleagues in the field. We also had inspiring discussions with other participants and key members of the Oracle PeopleTools executive team:

Het SOC2 en SOC3 rapport

Ook in 2024 heeft MCX opnieuw voldaan aan de eisen van SOC2 en SOC3.

Deze twee raamwerken zorgen ervoor dat klanten en de auditors van MCX-klanten inzage krijgen in de wijze waarop MCX controlemaatregelen heeft ingericht met als doel het borgen van de kwaliteit van de dienstverlening. MCX levert jaarlijks op verzoek een SOC2 assurance report aan haar klanten. Daarnaast is er een SOC3 rapportage beschikbaar. De SOC3-rapportage is inzichtelijk voor iedereen en dus ook voor organisaties die geen klant van MCX zijn. De laatste versie van dit rapport kan hier worden gedownload.

Unieke migratie naar de Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: Een Veilig en Betrouwbaar Applicatielandschap voor het CAK

In samenwerking met het CAK en Oracle, heeft MCX de laatste fase afgerond van het project om Oracle Health Insurance (OHI), Oracle Service Bus (OSB) en de server voor bestandsuitwisseling naar de Oracle Cloud te brengen. Het landschap van het CAK draaide oorspronkelijk on-premises bij het College van Zorgverzekeringen (CVZ), wat later Zorginstituut Nederland werd. In 2016 is het landschap volledig gemigreerd naar het CAK. De onderliggende infrastructuur voor de applicatie bestaat uit IaaS en PaaS, waarbij gebruik gemaakt is van virtuele machines met Oracle Linux 8, databases op ExaCS en encryptie met de Oracle Key Vault.

In het eerste kwartaal van 2023 is ons gevraagd om het CAK, samen met Oracle, te ondersteunen bij het project om de applicatie naar de cloud te brengen. Samen met Oracle en de infrastructuur specialisten is er gekeken naar een passende architectuur binnen de Oracle Cloud rekening houdend met een aantal wensen maar ook belangrijke vereisten van dit zelfstandig bestuursorgaan. Omdat het CAK een overheidsinstantie is, dienen zij te voldoen aan de beveiligingseisen die zijn vastgesteld door de CISO van de Rijksoverheid. Daarnaast is OHI niet alleen een bedrijfskritische, maar ook maatschappelijk kritische applicatie. Het was daarom onze verantwoordelijkheid om een betrouwbare migratie te realiseren met minimale impact.

Een van de harde eisen van het CAK was een Single Pane of Glass voor hun firewall, dit is een beheerconsole die gegevens uit meerdere bronnen op één scherm weergeeft. Ondanks deze ingewikkelde eis hebben we toch dezelfde functionaliteiten weten te behouden door onze software aan te passen waardoor het nog steeds kan voldoen aan de servicestandaard van MCX. Een van de eisen van de Rijksoverheid is het gebruik van eigen encryptie sleutels. Oracle biedt ook hiervoor een oplossing en wij beschikken over de benodigde expertise om deze voorwaarde effectief te implementeren binnen het applicatie landschap. Op deze manier voldoet de applicatie aan de eisen zonder verlies van functionaliteit of beveiliging.

De migratie van het volledige OHI-landschap heeft plaatsgevonden in twee fasen. Fase één is afgerond in april 2024 en omvatte de opbouw van de OCI-infrastructuur en de migratie van uitsluitend de OHI applicatie, inclusief de bijbehorende databases. Ook is de applicatie voorzien van de laatste versie updates zodat het voldoet aan de ondersteuningseisen van Oracle. Het OHI-landschap is volgens OTAP principe (Ontwikkel, Test, Acceptatie en Productie) met in elke straat meerdere omgevingen voor verschillende doeleinden. Op elke laag is zonering toegepast zodat er zowel op technisch als op functioneel niveau een duidelijke scheiding is tussen de verschillende OTAP-straten. We hebben de juiste tools ontwikkeld die in overeenstemming zijn met deze zonering en het CAK kan voorzien van de benodigde ondersteuning zonder concessies te doen op beveiliging, betrouwbaarheid of schaalbaarheid.

Vlak na het opleveren van fase één is een start gemaakt met fase twee. Deze fase bestond uit de migratie van OSB, het ontwerpen en implementeren van een opslaglocatie voor berichtenverkeer en het correct aanpassen van de verbinding met externe partijen die berichten aanleveren aan het CAK. Bij het ontwerpen en implementeren van de opslaglocatie voor berichtenverkeer hebben wij een oplossing ontwikkeld waarmee alle processen, gebruikers en applicaties de juiste rechten krijgen op de juiste mappen en bestanden. De zonering van de straten is ook hier van toepassing. Samen met de infrastructuur specialisten van het CAK is deze server ingericht en aangeboden aan de applicatie. Om te waarborgen dat de OHI- en OSB-applicaties elkaar technisch niet hinderen, zijn er voor beiden losse virtuele machines ingericht.

Het hele landschap is volledig en op alle niveaus voorzien van encryptie, conform de eisen die aan het begin van het project door het securityteam van het CAK zijn bepaald maar ook conform de beveiligingsrichtlijnen zoals vastgesteld door de Rijksoverheid.

Het CAK heeft virtuele machines in de Oracle Cloud beschikbaar gesteld waarop onze tooling en geautomatiseerde processen kunnen draaien. Dit stelt ons in staat het technisch beheer van applicaties en databases uniform uit te voeren, zodat gebruikers bij het CAK kunnen beschikken over snelle, betrouwbare en veilige applicaties. Dankzij een grondige voorbereiding, het bedenken van innovatieve oplossingen en een intensieve samenwerking in een multidisciplinair team, is de migratie van het OHI- landschap een groot succes te noemen. In dit unieke project bleek de combinatie van de eisen en toepassingen zelfs voor Oracle een unieke uitdaging. Deze prestatie onderstreept de expertise en motivatie van alle betrokken partijen.

Unique migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: A Secure and Reliable Application Landscape for CAK

In collaboration with CAK and Oracle, MCX successfully migrated the Oracle Health Insurance (OHI) and Oracle Service Bus (OSB) landscape to the Oracle Cloud. The project, which started in Q1 2023, required a careful approach to meet stringent security and functional requirements. During the two migration phases, the infrastructure, applications and databases were redesigned, implementing encryption, zoning and a Single Pane of Glass solution. This resulted in a technically manageable and scalable application landscape that meets central government security standards. Thanks to multidisciplinary cooperation and innovative customised solutions, CAK's objectives were realised without making concessions on functionality, security or reliability.

In the first quarter of 2023, we were asked to support CAK, together with Oracle, in the project to bring the application to the cloud. Together with Oracle and the infrastructure specialists, we looked for a suitable architecture within the Oracle Cloud taking into account a number of wishes but also important requirements of this independent administrative body. As the CAK is a government body, they have to meet the security requirements set by the CISO of the central government. In addition, OHI is not only a business-critical, but also socially critical application. It was therefore our responsibility to achieve a reliable migration with minimal impact.

One of CAK's tough requirements was a Single Pane of Glass for their firewall, which is a management console that displays data from multiple sources on a single screen. Despite this complicated requirement, we managed to keep the same functionality by modifying our software so that it can still meet MCX's service standard. One of the central government's requirements is the use of proprietary encryption keys. Oracle offers a solution for this too, and we have the necessary expertise to effectively implement this requirement within the application landscape. In this way, the application meets the requirements without loss of functionality or security.

The migration of the entire OHI landscape took place in two phases. Phase one was completed in April 2024 and involved building the OCI infrastructure and migrating only the OHI application, including its databases. The application was also provided with the latest version updates so that it meets Oracle's support requirements. The OHI landscape is according to OTAP principle (Develop, Test, Acceptance and Production) with multiple environments in each street for different purposes. Zoning has been applied to each layer so that there is a clear separation between the different OTAP streets at both technical and functional levels. We developed the right tools that are consistent with this zoning and can provide CAK with the necessary support without compromising on security, reliability or scalability.

Shortly after delivering phase one, phase two was started. This phase consisted of the migration of OSB, the design and implementation of a storage location for message traffic and the correct adaptation of the connection with external parties that deliver messages to CAK. In designing and implementing the messaging storage location, we developed a solution that gives all processes, users and applications the right rights to the right folders and files. Street zoning also applies here. Together with CAK's infrastructure specialists, this server was set up and offered to the application. To ensure that the OHI and OSB applications do not technically interfere with each other, separate virtual machines were set up for both.

The entire landscape is fully and at all levels encrypted, in accordance with the requirements defined at the beginning of the project by CAK's security team but also in line with the security guidelines set by the central government. CAK has provided virtual machines in the Oracle Cloud on which our tooling and automated processes can run. This enables us to uniformly perform the technical management of applications and databases so that users at CAK can have fast, reliable and secure applications.

Thanks to thorough preparation, devising innovative solutions and intensive cooperation in a multidisciplinary team, the migration of the OHI landscape can be called a great success. In this unique project, the combination of requirements and applications proved to be a unique challenge even for Oracle. This achievement underlines the expertise and motivation of all parties involved.

AppsConnected24 retrospective

AppsConnected 2024 took place in Ede on Tuesday, 6 June. This congress, organised by the OBUG, was opened by the "Godfather of Oracle E-Business Suite", Cliff Godwin (Oracle USA). Below a summary of this interesting congress.

Cliff Godwin gave a presentation on the roadmap for Oracle EBS with highlights;

The number of multinationals and governments that are fully standardised on Oracle EBS is huge, in short enough potential for a very long future;
Full integration with APEX is coming. By installing a future Applications Technology Group (ATG) patch, it will be possible to fully integrate APEX screens into EBS, without an additional intermediate end-user login;
There will be AI/natural language capabilities in Oracle EBS. You can then ask questions about your data and get answers too;
The "Oracle Business Network" is an interesting platform for companies that want to exchange data between different Oracle products;
The Oracle Enterprise Command Centres (ECC) are getting more and more interesting features with each release. This is the absolute future for data-driven and modern working with/in Oracle EBS. MCX already has several customers using this and can help customers implement it.

Oracle EBS roadmap

Duizenden organisaties over de hele wereld vertrouwen op Oracle E-Business Suite om hun belangrijkste bedrijfsactiviteiten te beheren. Het doel van Oracle is om deze organisaties succesvol te houden door nieuwe functies en innovaties te leveren en door langdurig Premier Support te bieden voor Oracle E-Business Suite.

Oracle is following a "Continuous Innovation" strategy for adding new capabilities to Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2. This strategy delivers ongoing updates to applications and the underlying technology stack without the need for a major upgrade. In addition, Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 provides long-term support with Premier Support until at least 2035.

In addition to adding new capabilities to Oracle E-Business Suite products, Oracle is applying enhancements to ensure it can take full advantage of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and work effectively with complementary Oracle SaaS applications.

Below are the highlights that apply to the EBS roadmap:

There will be a technology stack update in late 2024/early 2025 (possibly with an upgrade of Fusion Middleware);
Version 12.2 will remain the version for now. There are no plans to go to 14, 24 or anything else (i.e. no more major upgrades);
From 1 July 2024, EBS 12.2 Error Correction Baseline will be version 12.2.7. This refers to the minimum version of EBS 12.2 release eligible for error corrections (such as patches and bug fixes) from Oracle. If your applications are version 12.2.7 or lower, you will still receive support but with the following notes:
By default, patches are no longer tested for 12.2.7;
Because patches are no longer tested, you have to ask Oracle Development via an SR whether the patch was released before or after 1 July 2024, which is time-consuming and labour-intensive;
Should you still need a patch, Oracle will create it, but it will obviously take longer;
So it is recommended to update EBS to the higher version before 1 July 2024;
Support is now guaranteed until 2035. But the trend is that this moves up every year:
Statement Oracle: If EBS goes desupported, the US government will need more than 10 years to rebuild to something else: and they haven't started yet;
EBS version 12.1 support is really going to stop;
From 12.2.7, 23ai (the new DB version) will also be supported. 19c is until 2027. Certification is ongoing internally at Oracle for EBS.

Oracle Enterprise Command Centers

Oracle is fully committed to Oracle Enterprise Command Centres (ECC). ECC is part of EBS that helps users gain insight and make decisions through interactive dashboards and comprehensive data analysis capabilities. These command centres provide a visual and intuitive way to access and analyse operational data without the need for in-depth technical knowledge.

With ECC's dashboards, key users can perform real-time, trend analysis with a few clicks and trace information from the general ledger to its source in the sub-administration or spot deviations in modules at an early stage. For example, think of higher expenses/costs in current period or compare them with previous years. Without ECC, you are dependent on proprietary reporting, standard Oracle reporting or data warehouse constructs.

In the future, AI will also be included in ECC. Of course, this will be security aware so that only data you are authorised to see can be seen.

In the new ATG release, work is also being done on integrating APEX into EBS. This will then replace Oracle Applications Framework (OAF). This will also enable direct Single Sign-On between EBS and APEX.

Oracle EPM Cloud

Oracle has been a leader in the Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) domain for many years. Through EPM, organisations can align their operational activities with their strategic objectives, improve decision-making processes, allocate resources more efficiently and ultimately optimise their overall performance and profitability. Be it planning, consolidating or streamlining the financial close process.

One of the solutions in Oracle EPM is Hyperion. This is an on-premise solution that requires the customer to handle the installation, upgrades, patching and functional set-up themselves. With Oracle EPM Cloud, Oracle provides a SaaS solution. It lies as a shell over the ERP system. Essential components for Oracle cloud solutions are the automated, monthly, cloud-based updates. As these are initiated from Oracle support, customers will still have to take them into account. It is important to determine the impact of the updates on your system, processes and data.

Single Sign-on op Oracle EBS via de Oracle Cloud

Security is a hot topic in IT, so too is multi-factor Authentication (MFA). During AppsConnected24, MCX together with Radboud University showed how the implementation of a Single Sign-On solution with MFA on Oracle EBS went at Radboud University. This involved the use of Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IDCS).

IDCS is an Oracle cloud-based identity platform that enables SSO services to access EBS applications. Besides IDCS, you only need one component called EBS-Asserter, which IDCS provides to implement SSO for Oracle EBS and other applications.

In IDCS, you can also integrate with the existing Active Directory (AD). To integrate IDCS with an existing AD (as in Azure, for example), you need to download the Oracle IDCS AD agent from IDCS and install it on the AD server. After the installation is complete, the AD server data is updated in the IDCS directory integrations. For 0.23 cents per month per user, it is a great solution. MCX has successfully implemented this at several customers.

Advanded Security in the Oracle Cloud at CAK

Together with CAK, MCX faced the necessary challenges to comply with all guidelines arising from laws and regulations and to mitigate all risks, as identified in the PIA (Privacy Impact Assessment), when migrating Oracle Health Insurance application to the Oracle Cloud.

Op dinsdag 6 juni vond de AppsConnected 2024 plaats in Ede. Dit congres, dat georganiseerd wordt door de OBUG, werd geopend door de “Godfather of Oracle E-Business Suite”, Cliff Godwin (Oracle USA). Hieronder is een terugblik op dit interessante congres te lezen.

Cliff Godwin heeft een presentatie gegeven over de roadmap voor Oracle EBS met als highlights;

Het aantal multinationals en overheden die volledig gestandaard zijn op Oracle EBS is enorm, kortom voldoende potentie voor nog een hele lange toekomst;
Er komt een volledige integratie met APEX. Door installatie van een toekomstige Applications Technology Group (ATG) patch is het mogelijk APEX schermen helemaal te integreren in EBS, zonder een extra tussentijdse login van de eindgebruiker;
Er komen AI/natuurlijke taal-mogelijkheden in Oracle EBS. Je kunt dan vragen stellen over je data en krijgt nog antwoord ook;
Het “Oracle Business Network” is een interessant platform voor bedrijven die onderling data willen uitwisselen tussen verschillende Oracle producten;
De Oracle Enterprise Command Centers (ECC) krijgen meer en meer interessante features met elke release. Dit is de absolute toekomst voor het data-gedreven en modern werken met/in Oracle EBS. MCX heeft al verschillende klanten die daar gebruik van maken en kunnen klanten helpen bij de implementatie.

Oracle EBS roadmap

Oracle volgt een "Continuous Innovation" strategie voor het toevoegen van nieuwe mogelijkheden aan Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2. Met deze strategie worden doorlopende updates van applicaties en de onderliggende technologiestack geleverd zonder dat een grote upgrade nodig is. Daarnaast biedt Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 langdurige ondersteuning met Premier Support tot ten minste 2035.

Naast het toevoegen van nieuwe mogelijkheden aan Oracle E-Business Suite producten, past Oracle verbeteringen toe om ervoor te zorgen dat deze Suite volledig kan profiteren van Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) en effectief kan samenwerken met aanvullende Oracle SaaS applicaties.

Hieronder de highlights die gelden voor de EBS roadmap:

Er komt een technologiestack update eind 2024/begin 2025 (mogelijk met een upgrade van Fusion Middleware);
Versie 12.2 zal voorlopig dé versie blijven. Er zijn geen plannen om naar 14, 24 of iets anders te gaan (dus ook geen major upgrades meer);
Met ingang van 1 juli 2024 zal de EBS 12.2 Error Correction Baseline versie 12.2.7 zijn. Dit verwijst naar de minimale versie van EBS 12.2 release die in aanmerking komt voor foutcorrecties (zoals patches en bugfixes) van Oracle. Zijn je applicaties versie 12.2.7 of lager, dan ontvang je nog wel support maar wel met de volgende opmerkingen:
Patches worden standaard niet meer getest voor 12.2.7;
Omdat patches niet meer worden getest, moet je via een SR bij Oracle Development vragen of de patch voor of na 1 juli 2024 is uitgebracht, dat is tijdrovend en arbeidsintensief;
Mocht je toch een patch nodig hebben dan gaat Oracle die maken, maar dat duurt uiteraard langer;
Er wordt dus aanbevolen om EBS vóór 1 juli 2024 bij te werken naar de hogere versie;
Support is nu tot 2035 gegarandeerd. Maar de trend is dat dit jaarlijks opschuift:
Statement Oracle: Als EBS desupported gaat, heeft de overheid van de US meer dan 10 jaar nodig om te herbouwen naar iets anders: en ze zijn nog niet begonnen;
EBS versie 12.1 support gaat echt stoppen;
Vanaf 12.2.7 wordt ook 23ai (de nieuwe DB versie) ondersteund. 19c is tot 2027. Certificatie loopt intern bij Oracle voor EBS.

Oracle Enterprise Command Centers

Oracle zet vol in op Oracle Enterprise Command Centers (ECC). ECC is onderdeel van EBS dat gebruikers helpt bij het verkrijgen van inzicht en het nemen van beslissingen door middel van interactieve dashboards en uitgebreide data-analysemogelijkheden. Deze command centers bieden een visuele en intuïtieve manier om toegang te krijgen tot operationele gegevens en deze te analyseren, zonder dat er noodzaak is voor diepgaande technische kennis.

Met de dashboards van ECC kunnen de key users met paar klikken realtime, trendanalyses uitvoeren en informatie uit het grootboek herleiden naar de bron in de sub-administratie of afwijkingen in modules in een vroeg stadium signaleren. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan hogere uitgaven/kosten in lopende periode of deze vergelijken met voorgaande jaren. Zonder ECC ben je afhankelijk van eigen rapportage, standaard Oracle rapportage of datawarehouse constructies.

In de toekomst zal AI ook worden opgenomen in ECC. Uiteraard zal dit security aware zijn zodat er alleen gegevens te zien zijn waarvoor je geautoriseerd bent.

In de nieuwe ATG-release word ook gewerkt aan de integratie van APEX in EBS. Dit zal dan in plaats van Oracle Applications Framework (OAF) komen. Op deze manier wordt ook direct Single Sign-On tussen EBS en APEX mogelijk.

Oracle EPM Cloud

Oracle is al jaren een van de leidende partijen in het Enterprise Performance Management (EPM)-domein. Door middel van EPM kunnen organisaties hun operationele activiteiten afstemmen op hun strategische doelstellingen, besluitvormingsprocessen verbeteren, middelen efficiënter toewijzen en uiteindelijk hun complete prestaties en winstgevendheid optimaliseren. Of het nu gaat om plannen, consolideren of het stroomlijnen van het financial close proces.

Een van de oplossingen in Oracle EPM is Hyperion. Dit is een on-premise oplossing waarbij de klant zelf de installatie, upgrades, patching en functionele inrichting moet verzorgen. Met Oracle EPM Cloud levert Oracle een SaaS oplossing. Het ligt als een schil over het ERP systeem heen. Essentiele onderdelen voor Oracle cloud-oplossingen zijn de geautomatiseerde, maandelijkse, cloud-gebaseerde updates. Omdat deze geïnitieerd worden vanuit Oracle support zullen klanten daar toch rekening mee moeten houden. Het is belangrijk te bepalen wat de impact is de van de updates op jouw systeem, processen en gegevens.

Single Sign-on op Oracle EBS via de Oracle Cloud

Security is een veelbesproken onderwerp in de IT, dus ook multi-factor Authentication (MFA). Tijdens AppsConnected24 liet MCX samen met de Radboud Universiteit zien hoe de implementatie van een Single Sign-On oplossing met MFA op Oracle EBS bij de Radboud Universiteit is gegaan. Hierbij werd gebruik gemaakt van Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IDCS).

IDCS is een op Oracle-cloud gebaseerd identiteitsplatform dat SSO-diensten mogelijk maakt om toegang te krijgen tot EBS-applicaties. Naast IDCS hebt je slechts één component nodig, genaamd EBS-Asserter, die IDCS levert om SSO te implementeren voor Oracle EBS en andere applicaties.

In IDCS kun je ook integreren met de bestaande Active Directory (AD). Om IDCS te integreren met een bestaande AD (zoals bijvoorbeeld in Azure), moet je de Oracle IDCS AD-agent downloaden vanuit IDCS en installeren op de AD-server. Nadat de installatie is voltooid, worden de AD-servergegevens bijgewerkt in de IDCS-directory-integraties. Voor 0,23 cent per maand per gebruiker is het een prima oplossing. MCX heeft dit bij meerdere klanten succesvol geïmplementeerd.

Advanced Secutiry in de Oracle Cloud bij het CAK

Samen met het CAK heeft MCX de nodige uitdagingen moeten aangaan om te voldoen aan alle richtlijnen voortkomend uit de wet- en regelgeving en om alle risico's, zoals vastgesteld in de PIA (Privacy Impact Assessment), te mitigeren bij de migratie van Oracle Health Insurance applicatie naar de Oracle Cloud.

In deze presentatie werden topics behandeld zoals:

Zonering op netwerkniveau;

Eigen Checkpoint firewall (geen OCI Native oplossing);
Customer Managed keys in eigen beheer (OCI Vault/ Hardware Security Module);
ExaData Cloud Service met 4 VM clusters volgens OTAP principe;

Recap DEUG Conference 2024

On Thursday 30 May, MCX participated in the DEUG Conference 2024. MCX colleague Jasper provides a review of the day in Utrecht in the report below.

During this day, we not only got to give a presentation on who we are as MCX and what we stand for, but also on the innovations and developments we are currently working on in full swing. Our presentation was well received and nice questions were asked about our technical innovations in Peoplesoft.

We had an MCX stand on the day where visitors and existing customers could join us for a chat, information and, of course, fun goodies!

The conference also provided a valuable opportunity to speak to existing customers and learn from the developments of other institutions and companies. For instance, we participated in inspiring sessions from Oracle, CY2, Hogeschool Inholland, Noorderpoort, Universities Leiden and Amsterdam and Rijn IJssel. It was great to see innovations and best practices being shared to move the education sector forward.

It was an inspiring event and we look forward to using the knowledge and contacts gained to further improve our services. Thank you to the organisers for this successful conference!

Terugblik DEUG conferentie 2024

Donderdag 30 mei heeft MCX deelgenomen aan de DEUG Conferentie 2024. MCX-collega Wouter geeft in onderstaand verslag een terugblik van deze dag in Utrecht.

Tijdens deze dag mochten we niet alleen een presentatie geven over wie we als MCX zijn en waar we voor staan, maar ook over de innovaties en ontwikkelingen waar we momenteel volop aan werken. Onze presentatie werd goed ontvangen en er werden leuke vragen gesteld over onze technische innovaties op Peoplesoft-gebied.

We hadden deze dag een MCX-stand waar bezoekers en bestaande klanten bij ons terecht konden voor een praatje, informatie en natuurlijk leuke goodies!

De conferentie bood ook een waardevolle kans om bestaande klanten te spreken en te leren van de ontwikkelingen van andere instellingen en bedrijven. Zo hebben we deelgenomen aan inspirerende sessies van Oracle, CY2, Hogeschool Inholland, Noorderpoort, Universiteiten Leiden en Amsterdam en Rijn IJssel. Het was fantastisch om te zien hoe innovaties en best practices gedeeld werden om de onderwijssector vooruit te helpen.

Het was een inspirerend evenement en we kijken ernaar uit om de opgedane kennis en contacten in te zetten om onze dienstverlening verder te verbeteren. Dank aan de organisatoren voor deze geslaagde conferentie!

Oracle CloudWorld Tour

On March 15, three MCX colleagues travelled to London to attend the Oracle CloudWorld Tour 2024. Below is a recap of the day by Mark Kempers, Infrastructure Specialist at MCX.

This event revolved around gaining knowledge, connecting with others, and inspiring one another. It opened with a keynote by Oracle’s Executive Vice President, Doug Kehring. In his presentation, he explained Oracle’s renewed approach—focused not only on selling, but also on supporting the migration to the cloud through what Oracle calls the Customer Success Service (CSS). The keynote was followed by several real-world CSS examples, including the cloud migration of Michelin in France, where their entire eBS landscape was moved. It was particularly interesting to hear how this migration was executed and which steps were taken to achieve this.

After the keynote, it was time to split up and attend the break-out sessions most relevant to our work. Our goal for the day was clear: gain additional knowledge and gather new ideas we can use to support MCX customers. We learned about new technologies in the Oracle Cloud, listened to presentations from other Oracle customers, and received insights into how to guide clients through their cloud migration in the best possible way.

While many sessions were led by Oracle employees, it was valuable to also hear directly from customers. One of them was the municipality of Rotterdam, who shared their experience migrating to the Oracle Cloud. Their presentation covered the move from eBS on-premise to Oracle Fusion (selected modules), explaining their full process, timelines, and technical diagrams.

During the lunch break, we had the chance to network and hear stories from other partners. This offered a clear picture of how they approach cloud migrations and cloud management in their daily work.

After lunch, the in-depth sessions continued. As a closing item, Oracle invited us to a special session on Oracle Cloud for Defence and Intelligence. One of the key questions discussed was: “How can you use the Oracle Cloud in Defence and Intelligence without compromising on security or privacy?” It sparked meaningful conversations. Several Oracle partners shared what they have done for defence-related organizations in the Oracle Cloud, especially around Oracle Roving Edge . After this interesting session, it was time for a networking drink—although a short one for us, as we had to head back to the airport.

Looking back, it was a day filled with new insights and valuable information. MCX is continuously innovating, and the Oracle Cloud is a key part of that journey. A day at CloudWorld gives us fresh perspectives on how we can help customers migrate workloads to the Oracle Cloud and even support concepts like Multi-Cloud—for example, running a database in Microsoft Azure while hosting the application layer in the Oracle Cloud.

Oracle CloudWorld Tour

CloudWorld 2024 Op 15 maart zijn er drie MCX-collega’s afgereisd naar Londen om de Oracle CloudWorld Tour 2024 te bezoeken. Hieronder een verslag van deze dag door collega Mark Kempers, Infrastructure Specialist bij MCX.

Dit congres stond in het teken van het verzamelen van kennis, de verbinding zoeken en elkaar inspireren en werd geopend met een keynote door de Executive Vice President van Oracle, Doug Kehring. Hij lichtte in zijn presentatie de nieuwe aanpak van Oracle toe en gaf aan dat het niet alleen om het verkopen gaat, maar ook het helpen met de migratie naar de cloud of, zoals Oracle het noemt, de Customer Success Service (CSS). Als vervolg op de presentatie werden voorbeelden gegeven van de Customer Success Service bij klanten, zoals de cloud migratie van Michelin banden in Frankrijk die met hun hele eBS straat zijn gemigreerd. Het was voor ons erg interessant om te horen hoe deze migratie gegaan is en welke stappen zijn genomen om dit doel te bereiken.

Na de keynote was het tijd om ons op te splitsen en de break-out sessies bij te wonen die voor ons van toegevoegde waarde zouden zijn. Het was tenslotte ons doel om extra kennis te vergaren of nieuwe ideeën op te doen die we kunnen inzetten voor de klanten van MCX. We hebben informatie gekregen over de nieuwe technieken in de Oracle Cloud, presentaties van andere Oracle klanten beluisterd en handvatten gekregen om klanten op de juiste manier naar de Oracle Cloud te migreren.

Veel van de presentaties werden gegeven door medewerkers van Oracle maar het was goed om ook de ervaringen van klanten zelf te horen. Een van de klanten die hun ervaringen met ons hebben gedeeld, was gemeente Rotterdam. Zij gaven een presentatie over hun migratie naar de Oracle Cloud. De inhoud van de presentatie ging over hun migratie van eBS on-premise naar Oracle Fusion (bepaalde modules) en wat daarbij kwam kijken. Het hele traject werd besproken met daarbij tijdlijnen en technische tekeningen.

Tijdens de lunchpauze was er een mogelijkheid om te netwerken en verhalen van andere partners te horen. Dit gaf een goed beeld over de manier hoe zij met migraties en beheer op de Oracle Cloud omgaan.

Na de lunch werden de verdiepende sessies vervolgd. Als afsluiter hebben we op uitnodiging van Oracle een presentatie mogen bijwonen die ging over Oracle Cloud en Defensie/Inlichtingen. Er werd o.a. de vraag gesteld; ‘Hoe kun je gebruik maken van de Oracle Cloud op het vlak van Defensie en Inlichtingen zonder daarbij concessies te hoeven doe op security en privacy?’ Het was mooi om te zien dat er interessante gesprekken ontstonden. Een aantal partners van Oracle kreeg de mogelijkheid om te vertellen wat zij voor de instanties van defensie hebben gedaan op de Oracle Cloud, met name gericht op Oracle Roving Egde . Na deze interessante afsluiter was het tijd voor een netwerkborrel. Helaas was het een korte borrel voor ons want het was alweer tijd om naar het vliegveld te gaan.

Terugkijkend was het een dag waarin we veel informatie in ontvangst hebben genomen en veel interessante feiten te weten zijn gekomen. MCX is continu bezig met het innoveren en daar hoort de Oracle Cloud bij. Een dag op CloudWorld geeft ons nieuwe inzichten hoe wij klanten kunnen helpen om resources naar de Oracle Cloud te kunnen migreren en bijvoorbeeld het Multi Cloud concept kunnen toepassen. Een database in Micrsoft Azure en de applicatie in de Oracle Cloud?

Dat zijn mogelijkheden die we met de opgedane kennis kunnen toepassen. Met de specialisten op Oracle applicatie vlak en infrastructuur specialisten kunnen we alles uit de Oracle Cloud halen om de applicatie optimaal te laten draaien. Met het Cloud Adoption Framework dat Oracle heeft uitgegeven, kunnen we samen met jou kijken naar de beste oplossing en dat technisch vertalen naar een optimale infrastructuur.

"Omdat we al gauw denken; ‘Doe maar normaal, dan doe je al gek genoeg’ zijn we voor mijn gevoel niet trots genoeg op de prestaties die we leveren." Dat zou volgens Chris, controller bij MCX, best anders mogen.

We zijn beheerders dus we opereren op de achtergrond en zijn haast onzichtbaar en dat terwijl klanten ons en onze werkzaamheden erg waarderen. We werken keihard en bereiken mooie resultaten, iets waar trotser op mogen zijn!

Dat we de waarde 'duurzaamheid' belangrijk vinden bij MCX is iets waar ik me helemaal in kan vinden. Ik zie het als een uitdaging om de impact op de wereld om je heen te beperken. Bij MCX lopen we hier in voorop zonder het uit te dragen. Met ons volledig elektrisch wagenpark, een locatie op loopafstand van het OV en een kantoorpand dat het groenste gebouw van Apeldoorn is kunnen we dus stellen dat MCX zeer duurzaam is.

Dat MCX een echt familiebedrijf is, zorgt voor sterke waarden. De focus ligt op het uitdragen van de waarden ‘eerlijk zaken doen en transparant zijn’. Dat betekent dat er wordt gezorgd voor goed werkgeverschap en een goede werksfeer. Het menselijk aspect is een drijfveer, hierdoor zijn de dienstverbanden langdurig. Collega’s gaan niet zomaar bij MCX weg.

De doorgroeipaden liggen bij MCX niet klaar, die bepaal je gaande weg zelf. Je bepaalt in zeker zin dus je eigen carrière. Daar moet je wel mee om weten te gaan want dat vergt wel verantwoordelijkheid voor je eigen ontwikkeling en succes. Er wordt hier zeker voldoende ondersteuning geboden om naar die persoonlijke doelen toe te werken. Je staat er dus niet alleen voor!

De eisen die Mark stelde aan zijn nieuwe baan

"Voor mezelf had ik een lijstje gemaakt wat ik in een nieuwe baan zou willen en vooral wat anders zou moeten. Toen ik bij MCX op gesprek kwam kon ik één voor één de punten van mijn lijstje afvinken."

Belangrijk was dat ik onderdeel zou worden van een team met collega’s die hetzelfde werk doen zodat ik niet meer in mijn eentje verantwoordelijk was voor de volledige workload. Het is voor mij ook belangrijk om me veilig genoeg voelen om ‘nee’ te kunnen zeggen in geval van een krappe planning. En dat ik niet meer 24/7 beschikbaar hoef te zijn was ook zeker een must. Omdat ik dit keer voor mezelf wilde kiezen is MCX voor mij een perfect match!

Dat de kernwaarde ‘Security’ belangrijk is voor dit bedrijf herken ik zeker, ik ben hier elke dag mee bezig. Dit omdat we klanten hebben die werken met bijzondere persoonsgegevens en daar moet zorgvuldig mee worden omgegaan. Daarnaast is ons serviceniveau zeer hoog. MCX werkt niet voor de klant maar mét de klant. Dat merk je doordat het contact informeler en laagdrempeliger is. Daardoor ervaar ik het klantcontact meer als verlengde van mijn team, dan als contact met een andere organisatie.

Ik vond het heel gaaf dat ik na 1,5 maand dienstverband werd aangehaakt voor een meeting met een klant waarbij er ook een delegatie van Oracle aanwezig was. Er zaten wel 30 mensen in de vergaderzaal. Daar werd mijn mening gevraagd. Een mooi moment waarbij mijn kennis werd gewaardeerd en ook direct werd ingezet.

Voor de toekomst heb ik mezelf kleine doelen gesteld zodat ik veel kan leren en dat betekent veel vragen stellen! Het duurt een jaar voordat je ingewerkt bent en die tijd geef ik mezelf ook. Zolang ik zie dat er steeds taken bij komen en progressie is, dan motiveert dat mij om door te gaan. Belangrijk daarin zijn werkzaamheden die je op een gegeven moment zelfstandig kan doen en die zijn er steeds meer!

"Bij de eerste organisatie waarvoor ik heb gewerkt, heb ik mij volop kunnen ontwikkelen. Het was een organisatie met een positieve, vooruitstrevende sfeer en gericht op samenwerken. Vanaf het moment dat ik op zoek ben gegaan naar een andere baan, bleven deze waarden voor mij belangrijk."

Ik kwam er achter dat deze waarden niet vanzelfsprekend en gemakkelijk te vinden zijn. Via de nodige omzwervingen kwam ik in contact met Johan en ben projectmatig voor MCX aan de slag gegaan. De waarden die mij zo motiveren, vond ik hier wel en in combinatie met een wederzijdse klik met collega’s ben ik als HR-professional gebleven en inmiddels zelfs in vaste dienst.

Hoewel ik mij, in het HR-vak, als een vis in het water voel, is een IT-organisatie nieuw voor mij. Ik vind het fijn dat collega’s de tijd nemen om mij uit te leggen wat het vak bij MCX inhoudt. Al denk ik niet dat dit een opgave voor hen is, ze praten met veel bevlogenheid over het IT-vak. Omdat MCX zich specifiek richt op technisch beheer van Oracle software is de benodigde kennis ook specifiek. Collega’s leren van en met elkaar door veel kennis te delen. Ik vind het mooi om te zien dat hier de tijd voor wordt genomen en zowel werkervaring als de laatste technieken worden gedeeld.

Wel denk ik dat wat MCX en de collega’s te bieden hebben, meer bekendheid mag krijgen. Juist omdat het een unieke en positieve eigenschap is. Door het delen van kennis meer te structureren en te combineren met erkende externe opleidingen, wordt ontwikkeling nog toegankelijker voor huidige én nieuwe collega’s.

Wil je bijdragen aan een positieve en vooruitstrevende sfeer samen met enthousiaste collega’s? Je ontwikkelen in technisch IT-beheer en werken aan duurzame oplossingen voor zowel in- als externe vragen? Dan maken we graag kennis met je!

Tim vertelt over het vertrouwen dat hij bij MCX krijgt

"De vrijheid om mijn eigen werk te organiseren en de verantwoordelijkheid die daarbij hoort, past goed bij mij. Tijdens mijn stage ben ik hier aan gewend geraakt en nu wil ik niet meer weg!"

Ik denk graag na over het probleem en mogelijke oplossingen voor complexe vraagstukken voor klanten, spar daarover met mijn collega’s en ga dan zelf of samen, werken aan de beste optie. Maar ook ons eigen IT- landschap toekomstbestendig inrichten is een van mijn taken. Dit zorgt ervoor dat je net iets verder moet denken dan de korte termijn. Juist omdat we een groot landschap hebben, kan de impact van wijzigingen groot zijn.

‘Eerlijk zaken doen’ vind ik een heel belangrijke waarde en MCX gelukkig ook. Doordat klanten bij ons een ‘fixed price’ hebben, kan ik samen met mijn collega’s werken aan duurzame oplossingen zonder me druk te maken over het aantal uur. Dit zorgt ervoor dat we duurzame oplossing kunnen creëren die ook voor meerdere klanten inzetbaar zijn. Zo werken we aan kwaliteit én efficiëntie.

De korte lijnen binnen dit bedrijf zorgen mede voor een goede sfeer. We gaan heel informeel met elkaar om en de basis is vertrouwen, wat ik heel fijn vind. Ik waardeer de collega’s die hun slaap verruilden voor het aftellen tot mijn verjaardag tijdens ons jaarlijkse MCX-weekend. Dat kenmerkt heel erg het samen-gevoel bij MCX.

Ondanks dat het hier ‘gewoon’ is om thuis te werken is mijn advies voor mijn nieuwe collega’s om in het begin elke werkdag naar kantoor te komen. De praatjes bij de koffieautomaat leveren veel op zoals informatie over een nieuwe klant of een aanbesteding. En daarnaast draagt je aanwezigheid (sneller) bij aan het samen-gevoel dat ik hierboven heb beschreven.

Anton vertelt over de impact die MCX maakt

Sinds 2018 werkt Anton voor MCX. Hij is gestart als Service Manager en sinds 2023 werkt hij ook als Teamlead. 'Door de ouderwetse mond-tot-mond reclame kwam ik achter het bestaan van MCX.'

Vervolgens heb de nodige dingen over het bedrijf opgezocht en gesproken met oud-collega’s die de stap naar MCX al hadden gemaakt. Graag wilde ik bij een wat kleinere organisatie werken met een no-nonsens cultuur maar wel één die grote impact maakt. Dit doen we door oplossingen te bieden in het complexe IT-landschap van onze klanten.

Wat ik prettig vind aan het werken bij MCX is dat als ik een hulpvraag stel aan mijn collega’s, ik ook echt wordt geholpen. Uiteraard is dit een wisselwerking. Omdat MCX niet heel groot is ontstaat er een natuurlijke samenwerking, je kunt immers niet om elkaar heen. Als (Young) professional wordt je hier opgeleid op maat en krijg je persoonlijke begeleiding. Daarmee wordt je echt een onderdeel van organisatie. MCX kan studenten een mooie start van hun carrière bieden, door te kijken naar hun kracht en passende functies. Daarnaast is het bedrijf ook nog eens erg flexibel, je hebt de vrijheid om keuzes te maken wat bepalend kan zijn voor de uitvoering van je werk.

Het is ook bijzonder dat er bij een bedrijf dat is gevestigd in Apeldoorn, maar liefst 7 collega's uit Groningen en 2 uit Drenthe komen. Een paar keer per week samen je werkdag starten in de auto is ook nog eens heel gezellig! Omdat thuiswerken hier de standaard is ben je welkom vanuit alle windrichtingen.

Ik snap dat het merk MCX nog niet zo bekend is. Onze organisatie is nog vrij onbekend terwijl we een grote speler zijn op het gebied van Oracle beheer in Nederland. Kortom; klein in omvang maar groot in de dingen die we doen! Binnen de ICT /Oracle wereld hebben we wel bekendheid.

Bernard is sinds 2002 in dienst van MCX en vertelt over zijn ervaringen bij MCX. "Lang geleden werkte ik als beheerder van Oracle applicaties bij een bedrijf in Almere waar ik het erg naar mijn zin had, al begon de reisafstand mij wel tegen te staan."

Via een goede kennis kwam ik in contact met een bedrijf in mijn woonplaats Apeldoorn, die Oracle applicaties beheert. MCX was bij mijn start nog heel klein, er werkten maar vier collega’s.

Het echte pionieren dat we hadden, gebeurt nu niet meer maar de sfeer van het opbouwen en creëren is er gelukkig nog steeds. Er wordt voldoende ruimte gegeven voor nieuwe initiatieven en deze worden ook gewaardeerd. Je hebt nu alleen wel meer collega’s die je moet overtuigen van je ideeën.

Het fijne aan het werken bij MCX is de toegankelijkheid van collega’s. Er is veel bereidheid om elkaar te helpen en met z’n allen beter te worden. Dat we als collega iets bedenken en dat we daar als bedrijf van groeien, daar word ik enthousiast van. Als voorbeeld de cloningtool Dolly voor het automatisch verversen van testomgevingen, die heb ik gebouwd en voorzie ik nog altijd van nieuwe features. En ook het beheerportaal Gisgo waarmee klanten meer controle hebben over hun omgevingen. Deze heb ik samen met twee collega's kunnen opbouwen tot onmisbare bouwsteen van de bedrijfsvoering – dat voelt als pure magie.

Het werken voor veel verschillende klanten aan heel diverse systemen, is een pluspunt. Deze variëteit zorgt er voor dat er voldoende te leren is en dat de uitdaging blijft. Ik vind het namelijk belangrijk om me te blijven ontwikkelen zodat ik niet stil kom te staan.

Anton talks about the impact MCX is making

Anton has been working for MCX since 2018. He started as Service Manager and since 2023 he has also been working as Team Leader. 'Through old-fashioned word-of-mouth advertising, I found out about MCX's existence.'

I then looked up the necessary things about the company and talked to former colleagues who had already made the move to MCX. I wanted to work for a somewhat smaller organisation with a no-nonsense culture but one that makes a big impact. We do this by providing solutions in our customers' complex IT landscape.

What I like about working at MCX is that when I pose a question for help to my colleagues, I am actually helped. Of course, this is an interaction. Because MCX is not very big, it creates a natural cooperation; after all, you cannot ignore each other. As a (Young) professional, you receive tailor-made training and personal guidance here. This makes you a real part of the organisation. MCX can offer students a great start to their career by looking at their strengths and suitable positions. In addition, the company is also very flexible; you have the freedom to make choices, which can be decisive for the performance of your work.

It is also special that at a company based in Apeldoorn, as many as 7 colleagues come from Groningen and 2 from Drenthe. Starting your working day together in the car a few times a week is also great fun! As working from home is the standard here, you are welcome from all directions.

I understand that name (un)prominence is a thing for MCX. Our organisation is still quite unknown while we are a big player in the field of Oracle management in the Netherlands. In short; small in size but big in the things we do! Within the ICT /Oracle world, we do have fame.

"Because we tend to think; 'Just act normal, you'll be crazy enough', I feel we are not proud enough of the achievements we make." This could be quite different, according to Chris, controller at MCX.

We are administrators so we operate in the background and are almost invisible, even though customers really appreciate us and our work. We work very hard and achieve great results, something to be proud of!

The fact that we value sustainability at MCX is something I can totally relate to. I see it as a challenge to limit the impact on the world around you. At MCX, we lead the way in this without propagating it. So with our fully electric fleet, a location within walking distance of public transport and an office building that is the greenest building in Apeldoorn, we can say that MCX is very sustainable.

The fact that MCX is a true family business ensures strong values. The focus is on promoting the values of 'doing business honestly and being transparent'. This means ensuring good employment practices and a good working atmosphere, even in times of growth. The human aspect is a driving force. As a result, employments are long-term; colleagues do not leave MCX lightly.

At MCX, career paths are not set, you determine them yourself along the way. In a way, you determine your own career. You have to be able to deal with that, because it does require responsibility for your own development and success. There is certainly enough support here to work towards those personal goals. The demands Mark made on his new job

"For myself, I had made a list of what I would like in a new job and especially what should be different. When I came to MCX for an interview, I was able to tick off the items on my list one by one."

It was important for me to become part of a team with colleagues doing the same work so that I was no longer responsible for the entire workload on my own. It is also important for me to feel secure enough to be able to say 'no' in case of a tight schedule. And not having to be available 24/7 anymore was also definitely a must. Because I wanted to choose for myself this time, MCX is a perfect match for me!

I definitely recognise that the core value 'Security' is important for this company; I work on this every day. This is because we have customers who work with special personal data and this has to be handled carefully. In addition, our service level is very high. MCX does not work for the customer, but with the customer. You notice this because the contact is more informal and low-threshold. As a result, I experience customer contact more as an extension of my team than as contact with another organisation.

I thought it was very cool that after 1.5 months of employment I was called in for a meeting with a customer where an Oracle delegation was also present. There were as many as 30 people in the meeting room. There I was asked for my opinion. A great moment where my knowledge was appreciated and put to immediate use.

For the future, I have set myself small goals so that I can learn a lot and that means asking a lot of questions! It takes a year to settle in and I am giving myself that time. As long as I see that tasks are added and progress is made, that motivates me to continue. Important in this are tasks that you can do independently at some point, and there are more and more of them!

"At the first organisation I worked for, I had plenty of opportunities to develop. It was an organisation with a positive, progressive atmosphere and focused on cooperation. From the moment I started looking for another job, these values remained important to me."

I found out that these values are not obvious and easy to find. Through some wandering, I came into contact with Johan and started working for MCX on a project basis. I did find the values that motivate me so much here and, combined with a mutual click with colleagues, I stayed on as an HR professional and have now even become a permanent employee.

Although, in the HR profession, I feel at home, an IT organisation is new to me. I like the fact that colleagues take the time to explain to me what the job at MCX entails. Although I don't think this is a task for them, they talk about the IT profession with a lot of enthusiasm. Because MCX focuses specifically on technical management of Oracle software, the knowledge required is also specific. Colleagues learn from and with each other by sharing a lot of knowledge. I like the fact that time is taken for this and both work experience and the latest techniques are shared.

However, I do think that what MCX and its colleagues have to offer should be more widely known. Precisely because it is unique and positive. By structuring knowledge sharing more and combining it with recognised external training courses, development becomes even more accessible to current and new colleagues.

Bernard has been with MCX since 2002 and talks about his experiences at MCX. "A long time ago I worked as an Oracle applications administrator at a company in Almere where I really enjoyed myself, although the travel distance started to bother me."

Through a good acquaintance, I came into contact with a company in my hometown of Apeldoorn, which ran Oracle applications. MCX was still very small when I started, with only four colleagues working there.

The real pioneering we had no longer happens but the atmosphere of building and creating is fortunately still there. There is plenty of room for new initiatives and they are appreciated. You just have more colleagues to convince of your ideas now.

What I like about working at MCX is the accessibility of colleagues. There is a lot of willingness to help each other and to become better together. That we, as colleagues, come up with something and that we as a company grow from that, that's what excites me. An example is the cloning tool Dolly for automatically refreshing test environments, which I built and am still adding new features to. And also the management portal Gisgo, which gives customers more control over their environments. Together with two colleagues, I was able to build this into an indispensable building block of business operations - that feels like pure magic.

Working for many different customers on very diverse systems is a plus. This variety ensures that there is plenty to learn and that the challenge remains. In fact, I find it important to keep developing so that I don't come to a standstill.

These two frameworks ensure that customers and the auditors of MCX customers gain insight into the way in which MCX has set up control measures with the aim of guaranteeing the quality of the service. MCX provides an annual SOC2 assurance report to its customers upon request. In addition, a SOC3 report is available. The SOC3 report is accessible to everyone, including organizations that are not customers of MCX. The latest version of this report can be downloaded here .

Voor MCX begint het jaar goed!

Het pand van MCX scoort excellent volgens de behaalde BEEAM-certificering!

Voor MCX begint het jaar goed! Na de laatste aanpassingen voldoet ons kantoorpand namelijk aan de voorwaarden om die felbegeerde BREEAM-certificering te behalen.

Zo hebben we een insectenhotel geplaatst en vogelhuisjes opgehangen maar ook het energie-managementsysteem uitgebreid zodat we het stroomverbruik per groep kunnen meten. Allemaal verbeteringen om onze duurzaamheid te verhogen. En als resultaat dat felbegeerde certificaat. Met onder andere 114 zonnepanelen, groene wanden die computergestuurd voeding krijgen en de locatie op loopafstand van het OV, scoort ons pand zelfs ‘Excellent’ volgens de duurzaamheidscriteria. Nu kunnen we ons kantoor dus met recht het groenste gebouw van Apeldoorn noemen!

Maar niet alleen vanbuiten zijn we groen, ook vanbinnen zetten we ons in om onze ecologische voetafdruk zo klein mogelijk te maken. Zo scheiden we zoveel mogelijk ons afval en is het wagenpark van MCX volledig elektrisch. Bij de opslag van data kijken we zelf kritisch naar wat er bewaard moet worden en adviseren we onze klanten ook hoe ze hun data het beste in control kunnen houden. Door het tunen van databases of query’s kunnen we de doorlooptijd verkorten wat zorgt voor een lager stroomverbruik. En bij het deelnemen aan (studenten)beurzen kiezen we voor duurzame promotieartikelen. Zo werkt MCX aan een betere en duurzame toekomst.

MCX's building scores excellent according to the achieved BEEAM certification!

For MCX, the year is off to a good start! Indeed, after the latest modifications, our office building meets the conditions to obtain that coveted BREEAM certification.

We have installed an insect hotel and hung bird houses, but also extended the energy management system so that we can measure the power consumption per group. All improvements to increase our sustainability. And as a result that coveted certificate. With, among other things, 114 solar panels, green walls that are computer-controlled and the location within walking distance of public transport, our building even scores 'Excellent' according to the sustainability criteria. So now we can rightly call our office the greenest building in Apeldoorn!

But we are not only green on the outside, we are also committed to minimising our ecological footprint on the inside. For instance, we separate our waste as much as possible and MCX's vehicle fleet is completely electric. When it comes to data storage, we take a critical look ourselves at what needs to be kept and also advise our customers on how best to keep their data under control. By tuning databases or queries, we can shorten the throughput time which ensures lower power consumption. And when participating in (student) fairs, we choose sustainable promotional items. This is how MCX works towards a better and sustainable future.

A plan of action

After a short inspection of the server room in our new office building, a plan was drawn up for the MCX infrastructure together with the installer. This therefore concerns our own internal infrastructure and not that of customers. At the end of August, the network connectivity will be arranged so that the employees can actually work. At the end of September and October, the set-up from Molleruslaan will be moved to the Kanaalpad.

Interview with Rawish en Edwin

Edwin van de Worp and Rawish Kewal have been employed by MCX for over a year. A good time to share their work experiences with us!

What exactly do you do at MCX?

Edwin and Rawish both work as service desk employees. In this position, they ensure a smooth flow of incidents and changes. They schedule clones, enlarge data files or restart environments when necessary. Monitoring servers to prevent escalation is also part of their duties.

But how did they end up at MCX?

Through Luma Group, a recruitment and selection agency for IT personnel, among others, the gentlemen at MCX came to talk, where they had a pleasant but above all good conversation. Both left a good impression and their appointment followed very quickly. They were allowed to start an internal learning trajectory to gain experience with Oracle and Linux. The first weeks they saw a lot coming their way and that was sometimes quite tough, but at the same time it was also a very interesting period. Rawish says: “We gained experience with Linux and Windows OS, Oracle databases and SQL. But also with various protocols such as Secure shell and FTP.” With the knowledge gained, they started at the MCX Service Desk.

What is the biggest challenge in your work?

Rawish tries every day to find a good balance in both his personal development and acquiring the right knowledge. He is very proud of the growth he has experienced at MCX, considering the 8.3 we receive from customers for our service and focus as the highest compliment. “I think this is confirmation that MCX is making the right choices,” said Rawish.

Edwin is committed every day to steer all activities in the right direction in order to provide customers with the best possible service. “Every day is different because you never know how many reports will come in or what the complexity of the issue is,” says Edwin.

How do you put the customer first?

Both believe it is important to listen carefully to our customers and to get the reports of incidents and disruptions as clear as possible. “Only by determining the cause and problem definition, it is possible to provide the right help,” says Edwin. Keeping customers informed of developments around incidents, service requests and standard changes is also very important,” adds Rawish. They only applaud the fact that 'trust' is a core value of MCX. “All the work we carry out is based on mutual trust, which is a must because customers have placed their applications with critical business processes with us.” What sets MCX apart from other employers, according to Rawish, is that MCX not only resolves incidents, but also really thinks ahead. “We provide a solution that can be used by more customers and with a super-fast response time”.

How do you find MCX as an employer?

In addition to the fact that Edwin and Rawish find that there is a pleasant working atmosphere and that it is often very pleasant, they also experience that they can fully work on their development at MCX. "In addition to a wonderful list of great customers, it is very nice that you are surrounded by colleagues who are happy to help you." Very different from organizations outside MCX, Edwin and Rawish are also allowed to carry out technical actions as a service desk employee. “This not only gives more challenge in our work” Edwin indicates “but also ensures very fast response times”. Something both men are very proud of.

What do you do when you are not at work?

Both gentlemen also have activities besides their work at MCX. For example, every year Edwin helps with a liberation festival with which he increases his social involvement. “I think it is important to dedicate myself to society in order to make it a little better”. Rawish mainly seeks relaxation in music. He composes music pieces at Legend and creates electronic music for multiple genres. In addition, he likes to kick a ball with the men of the friends football team. “I love exercising outdoors, especially when I can do it with my friends. Besides the fun, it is of course also good for my condition.”

Wat doen jullie precies bij MCX?

Edwin en Rawish zijn beide werkzaam als servicedesk medewerker. In deze functie zorgen ze voor een goede doorstroming van incidenten en wijzigingen. Ze plannen klonen in, vergroten datafiles of herstarten omgevingen wanneer dat nodig is. Ook het monitoren van servers, om escalatie te voorkomen, valt onder hun taken.

Maar hoe zijn ze eigenlijk bij MCX terechtgekomen?

Via Luma Group, een werving- en selectiebureau voor o.a. IT-personeel, zijn de heren bij MCX op gesprek gekomen waarbij ze een gezellig maar vooral ook goed gesprek hebben gehad. Beiden hebben een goede indruk achtergelaten en hun indiensttreding volgde dan ook zeer snel. Ze mochten starten met een intern leertraject om ervaring met Oracle en Linux op te doen. De eerste weken hebben ze veel op hun zien afkomen en dat was soms best even pittig maar het was tegelijkertijd ook een bijzonder interessante periode. Rawish geeft aan: “We hebben ervaring gekregen met Linux en Windows OS, Oracle databases en SQL. Maar ook met diverse protocollen zoals Secure shell en FTP.” Met de opgedane kennis, zijn ze gestart op de Servicedesk van MCX.

Wat is de grootste uitdaging in jullie werk?

Rawish probeert elke dag een goede balans te vinden in zowel zijn persoonlijke ontwikkeling als het opdoen van de juiste kennis. Hij is erg trots op de groei die hij heeft doorgemaakt bij MCX waarbij hij de 8,3 die we van klanten krijgen voor onze service en doelgerichtheid, het grootste compliment vindt. “Dit is denk ik een bevestiging dat MCX de juiste keuzes maakt”, aldus Rawish. Edwin zet zich dagelijks in om alle werkzaamheden in de juiste banen te leiden om de klanten zo goed mogelijk van dienst te zijn. “Elke dag is weer anders omdat je nooit weet hoeveel meldingen er binnenkomen of wat het complexiteit van het vraagstuk is”, geeft Edwin aan.

Hoe zetten jullie de klant centraal?

Beiden vinden het belangrijk om goed te luisteren naar onze klanten en de meldingen van incidenten en verstoringen zo helder mogelijk te krijgen. “Alleen bij vaststelling van de oorzaak en probleemstelling, is het mogelijk om de juiste hulp te bieden” aldus Edwin. Ook de klanten op de hoogte houden van ontwikkelingen rondom incidenten, servicerequests en standaard changes is van groot belang”, vult Rawish aan. Dat ‘vertrouwen’ een kernwaarde is van MCX juichen ze alleen maar toe. “Alle werkzaamheden die we uitvoeren gebeuren op basis van wederzijds vertrouwen, dat moet ook wel want klanten hebben immers hun applicaties met kritische bedrijfsprocessen bij ons ondergebracht.” Wat MCX onderscheidt van andere werkgevers is, volgens Rawish, is dat er bij MCX niet alleen incidenten worden opgelost maar er wordt ook echt verder gedacht. “We zorgen voor een oplossing die voor meer klanten bruikbaar kan zijn én met supersnelle een reactietijd”.

Hoe vinden jullie MCX als werkgever?

Naast dat Edwin en Rawish vinden dat er een fijne werksfeer hangt en dat het vaak heel gezellig is, ervaren ze ook dat ze bij MCX volop aan hun ontwikkeling kunnen werken. “Naast een prachtige lijst met mooie klanten is het erg prettig dat je wordt omringt door collega’s die je graag willen helpen.” Heel anders dan bij organisaties buiten MCX mogen Edwin en Rawish als servicedesk medewerker ook technische acties uitvoeren. “Dit geeft niet alleen meer uitdaging in ons werk” geeft Edwin aan “maar zorgt ook voor zeer snelle reactietijden’’. Iets waar beide mannen heel trots op zijn.

Wat doen jullie als je niet aan het werk bent?

Beide heren hebben ook bezigheden naast hun werk bij MCX. Zo helpt Edwin elk jaar mee met een bevrijdingsfestival waarmee hij zijn maatschappelijke betrokkenheid vergroot. “Ik vind het belangrijk me in te zetten voor de samenleving om zo deze een beetje beter te maken”. Rawish zoekt vooral zijn ontspanning in de muziek. Hij componeert muziekstukken bij Legend en creëert elektronische muziek voor meerdere genres. Daarnaast trapt hij graag tegen een balletje met de mannen van het vrienden-voetbalteam. “Ik vind het heerlijk om buiten te sporten en helemaal als ik dit samen met m’n vrienden kan doen. Naast de gezelligheid is het natuurlijk ook goed voor mijn conditie.”

The start of the infrastructure of MCX

Besides the fact that our new office building will look incredibly spectacular, there will also be work to be done. This is not possible without proper installation of the infrastructure. The first steps to realize this have been taken.

Plan of action

As can be seen in the photos, the first items have been hung in the new building. These are the firewalls and switches to realize connectivity to and in the building. This work has also stopped for a while because the door to the server room is not yet there. The installer will test and label all network cables shortly. A map is eventually made of this, which we also need because there are 150! The installer will also have the UPS activated in the coming period.

Oracle heeft https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/alert-cve-2022-21500.html recent gepubliceerd, met betrekking tot een KRITIEK lek in EBS 12.1 en 12.2. De patch komt pas 15 juni 2022 beschikbaar. MCX beveelt dan ook ten sterkste aan de handmatige stappen uit MOS note 2870472.1 uit te voeren. Test de workaround eerst op een niet-productie omgeving!

Oracle recently published https://www.oracle.com/security-alerts/alert-cve-2022-21500.html, detailing a CRITICAL security flaw in EBS 12.1 and 12.2. The patch will arrive at June 15th 2022. MCX strongly encourages you to apply the manual mitigation from MOS note 2870472.1. First test on a non-production environment!

Spring4Shell

Sinds gisteren, 31 maart 2022, waarschuwt het NCSC voor een kwetsbaarheid in het Spring Core Framework. Deze kwetsbaarheid is aangeduid met de code CVE-2022-22965 en heeft als naam Spring4Shell. Deze kwetsbaarheid maakt het mogelijk om op afstand, ongeauthentiseerd willekeurige code uit te voeren. De bijbehorende CVSS score van deze kwetsbaarheid is 9.8. Dit maakt de kwetsbaarheid zeer kritiek en valt in de categorie Log4Shell van afgelopen december qua impact.

Om de kwetsbaarheid te kunnen uitbuiten moeten er wel aan een aantal voorwaarden zijn voldaan:

de dienst moet gebruik maken van JDK versie 9 en hoger.
de dienst moet gebaseerd zijn op Tomcat.
het servlet, die wordt uitgevoerd door Tomcat service, moet niet als jar maar als war file worden uitgevoerd.
de dienst moet gebruiken maken van Spring Framework versies 5.3.0 tot 5.3.17, 5.2.0 tot 5.2.19 en oudere versies.
de dienst moet gebruik maken van jar bestanden wiens naam begint met spring-beans-.

Spring4Shell

As of yesterday, March 31st 2022, the Dutch NCSC warns organizations for a vulnerability in the Spring Core Framework. This vulnerability has been designated as CVE-2022-22965 and is referred to with the more readable name Spring4Shell. This vulnerability allows a remote and unauthenticated attacker to execute random code. The corresponding CVSS score of the vulnerability is 9.8. This is a very critical vulnerability which is similar to the Log4Shell vulnerability of last December in terms of impact.

To exploit this vulnerability a few requirements must be met:

the service must use JDK version 9 or higher.
the service must be based on Tomcat.
the servlet, executed by the Tomcat service, must not be executed as a jar but as a war file.
the service must use Spring Framework versions 5.3.0 to 5.3.17, 5.2.0 to 5.2.19 and older versions.
the service must use files who's name start with spring-beans-.

MCX is currently investigating which customers are affected. If a customer is indeed affected, MCX will initiate communication via the regular channels.

De passie van Jerica

In mei 2021 is Jerica bij MCX in dienst gekomen als applicatiebeheerder van TOPdesk. Een Service management applicatie die nog maar kort in gebruik is binnen MCX. Als verantwoordelijke voor deze applicatie houdt Jerica zich bezig met de inrichting en de verdere ontwikkeling en dat doet ze met veel gedrevenheid. Maar TOPdesk is niet haar enige passie!

TOPdesk heeft voor Jerica weinig geheimen. In 2009 had zij immers al de eerste kennismaking met deze applicatie toen ze werkzaam was als servicedeskmedewerker bij een gemeente. Nadat ze jaren grootgebruiker van de applicatie is geweest, werd duidelijk dat haar kwaliteiten bij het inrichten en verder ontwikkelen van TOPdesk liggen. Maar, zoals ze zelf aangeeft; “Fijn dat er nog veel te leren valt over dit platform”.

De focus bij MCX ligt met name op het automatiseren van handelingen. Zo heeft ze o.a. geleerd om zogenoemde ‘action sequences’ te maken in TOPdesk, een vaardigheid die ze voorheen nog niet onder de knie had. Met deze action sequences of actiereeksen is het ook mogelijk om TOPdesk te integreren met andere systemen. Het geeft Jerica veel energie en voldoening om hier mee bezig te zijn vooral als de actiereeksen lukken!

Energie die zij ook haalt uit haar reizen naar Sao Miguel. Een eiland dat midden in de Atlantische oceaan ligt en het grootste onderdeel van de Azoren is. Al sinds het allereerste bezoek, in 2016, is ze erg onder de indruk van de natuur, de sfeer en het fenomenale uitzicht. Zo veel dat ze er binnenkort gaat ‘proefwonen’! Er is een huis gehuurd, de laptop en toetsenbord worden in de koffer gestopt en gerekend wordt op een extra monitor van de verhuurder. Ook de wifi is gecheckt en die schijnt goed te werken. Het enige wat nu nog rest is een werkplek met uitzicht op de oceaan. En als dat ook voor elkaar is dan zou het maar zo kunnen zijn dat ze in de toekomst voorgoed naar Sao Miguel vertrekt!

In oktober 2021 heeft het CAK een Europese aanbesteding uitgeschreven voor het technisch beheer van de applicatie Oracle Health Insurance.

Technisch beheer Oracle Health Insurance

Het Oracle Health Insurance Back Office systeem (afgekort OHI) ondersteunt de belangrijkste administratieve processen van zorgverzekeraars zoals declaratieverwerking, polis administratie en zorginkoop. Omdat MCX veel kennis van OHI heeft en ook specifiek ingericht is op IT-beheer, is er op deze aanbesteding ingeschreven. We zijn trots dat het CAK MCX geselecteerd heeft om dit traject uit te mogen voeren. Hiermee kunnen we weer een nieuwe klant toevoegen aan ons bestand.

De komende jaren zal MCX het technisch applicatiebeheer van het OHI platform, de Oracle Service Bus en alle Oracle databases gaan verzorgen. Ook zijn er een aantal projecten gedefinieerd die tijdens de contractperiode door MCX uitgevoerd gaan worden.

Het CAK is een publieke dienstverlener die voor de overheid regelingen uitvoert en zorgt voor de vertaling van wetten en regels naar persoonlijke en begrijpelijke service. Met heldere en goed vindbare informatie geeft het CAK klanten inzicht in en overzicht van hun persoonlijke situatie. Hierdoor kan iedere klant zelfstandig de juiste keuzes maken.

Door de komst van nieuwe taken de afgelopen jaren, groeide het CAK uit tot één van de grootste uitvoeringsorganisaties in de zorg- en welzijnssector in Nederland. Daarbij neemt het CAK een centrale positie in als het gaat om het beheren van financiële en administratieve processen en het onderhouden van contacten met de afnemers van zorg.

In October 2021, the CAK issued a European tender for the technical management of the Oracle Health Insurance application.

Technisch beheer Oracle Health Insurance

The Oracle Health Insurance Back Office System (OHI for short) supports the most important administrative processes of health insurers, such as claim processing, policy administration and healthcare purchasing. Because MCX has a great deal of knowledge of OHI and is also specifically designed for IT management, this tender has been submitted. We are proud that the CAK has selected MCX to carry out this process. This allows us to add another new customer to our database.

In the coming years, MCX will take care of the technical application management of the OHI platform, the Oracle Service Bus and all Oracle databases. A number of projects have also been defined that will be carried out by MCX during the contract period.

About the CAK

The CAK is a public service provider that carries out regulations for the government and ensures the translation of laws and regulations into personal and comprehensible service. With clear and easy-to-find information, the CAK provides customers with insight into and an overview of their personal situation. This allows each customer to make the right choices independently.

VUB nieuwe klant van MCX

Vrije Universiteit Brussel kiest voor MCX voor het technisch applicatie beheer van hun PeopleSoft Campus Solution applicatie.

De Vrije Universiteit Brussel maakt al een aantal jaren gebruik van de Oracle applicatie PeopleSoft Campus Solutions als Studenten Informatie Systeem.

Het technisch onderhoud van deze applicatie wordt op dit moment nog door de VUB zelf gedaan maar omdat dit onderhoud steeds meer een uitdaging wordt vanwege de benodigde specialistische kennis, heeft de VUB aangegeven een partner te willen selecteren zodat de bedrijfscontinuïteit gewaarborgd blijft.

Eind vorig jaar hebben ze daarom een aanbesteding uitgeschreven voor het technisch applicatie beheer van hun PeopleSoft Campus Solution applicatie. Door de ruime ervaring van MCX op dit vlak en de tevredenheid van andere PeopleSoft Campus Solutions klanten heeft de VUB, MCX geselecteerd om deze opdracht uit te mogen voeren!

De VUB is een internationaal georiënteerde universiteit in Brussel, het hart van Europa. De VUB heeft als missie dat ze, door het afleveren van gedegen onderzoek en onderwijs op maat, een actieve en betrokken bijdrage leveren aan een betere samenleving. VUB new customer of MCX

Vrije Universiteit Brussel chooses MCX for the technical application management of their PeopleSoft Campus Solution application.

The Vrije Universiteit Brussel has been using the Oracle application PeopleSoft Campus Solutions for a number of years as a Student Information System.

The technical maintenance of this application is currently still done by the VUB itself, but because this maintenance is becoming more and more a challenge due to the required specialist knowledge, the VUB has indicated that it wants to select a partner so that business continuity is guaranteed.

At the end of last year they therefore issued a tender for the technical application management of their PeopleSoft Campus Solution application. Due to the extensive experience of MCX in this field and the satisfaction of other PeopleSoft Campus Solutions customers, the VUB has selected MCX to carry out this assignment!

The VUB is an internationally oriented university in Brussels, the heart of Europe. The VUB's mission is to make an active and committed contribution to a better society by delivering thorough research and tailor-made education. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel has campuses in Ixelles, Jette, Anderlecht, Gooik, Leuven and Diest. In addition, lectures are given at special locations throughout Brussels.

The management transition is currently in full swing. Asof February the 1st, MCX is responsible for the complete technical application management. This includes all components within PeopleSoft Campus Solutions such as databases, Peopletools and Elastic Search.

Log4Shell kwetsbaarheid

Log4Shell kwetsbaarheid in diverse Oracle producten

15-12-2021:

MCX is op de hoogte van het feit dat er een nieuwe kwetsbaarheid in Log4j is gevonden: CVE-2021-45046. Hoewel deze nieuwe kwetsbaarheid niet kritiek is, kan uit de beschrijving ervan wel blijken dat de door Oracle aangeboden oplossing van het oorspronkelijke probleem (CVE-2021-44228) wellicht niet correct en/of volledig is. Het nieuws is echter nog zo vers, dat Oracle nog geen updates op MOS heeft kunnen publiceren.

Klanten met omgevingen die voor het gehele internet benaderbaar zijn, zijn reeds door MCX op de hoogte gesteld van deze ontwikkeling. Er is geadviseerd deze omgevingen tijdelijk beperkt toegankelijk te maken danwel helemaal offline te brengen. Een deel van de klanten heeft een mogelijke fix geimplementeerd.

Zodra Oracle met nieuwe informatie komt zullen we onze klanten op de gebruikelijke manier informeren.

12-12-2021:

Oracle houdt op My Oracle Support in note 2827611.1 bij voor welke producten er patches zijn uitgekomen. Op dit moment (10.00) zijn dat slechts nog twee producten. Helaas zitten Oracle E-Business Suite en PeopleSoft daar nog niet bij. Zodra er meer informatie bekend is laten we dit weten.

11-12-2021:

Op 11-12-2021 heeft Oracle melding gemaakt van een kwetsbaarheid, genaamd Log4Shell, die van toepassing is op Apache Log4j. Op het moment van schrijven (11-12-2021, 12.30) is er nog geen patch beschikbaar. MCX houdt het nieuws in de gaten. Zodra er een patch beschikbaar komt dan maakt MCX een impactanalyse en stemt met de getroffen klanten vervolgstappen af. Het intrusion detection systeem van MCX is reeds voorzien van rules om eventuele uitbuiting van deze kwetsbaarheid op te merken.

TOPdesk live at MCX

TOPdesk will be live at MCX from December 1st

With this service management software we are going to make our services even better. This allows us to give our customers a good overview of all their tickets and we also offer forms that are easy to fill in to generate tickets. By using TOPdesk, we improve cooperation with our customers and increase efficiency.

The TOPdesk portal has been developed so far to handle the following requests:

changes
Service Requests

In the coming months, we will gradually connect several customers to this new portal. This happens gradually because many manual and one-off settings per customer are required to set up TOPdesk. In the future, we expect to be able to further automate these one-off settings, entirely in line with MCX's motto: you can automate everything you have to do twice.

Links with other Service applications will come at a later stage. Customers are informed in good time before they are connected to TOPdesk.

Onze nieuwe collega Simone stelt zich voor

Mijn naam is Simone, ik ben 46 jaar jong en werk sinds afgelopen zomer bij MCX. Via een jobcoach ben ik bij dit groeiende bedrijf terechtgekomen. Deze coach vond de vacature voor (financieel) administratief medewerker wel bij mij passen en na overleg heeft ze contact tussen MCX en mij gelegd.

De eerste kennismaking was heel ontspannen, we hebben bijna 1,5 uur zitten kletsen! Echt een warm welkom dus. De dagen erna waren spannend; had ik een nieuwe baan of niet? Gelukkig kwam het goed nieuws uiteindelijk en half juli ben ik in dienst gekomen.

Ik houd me met name bezig met het betalen van binnenkomende facturen, administreren in het boekhoudprogramma, bestanden scannen en in het programma toevoegen. Ook zet ik de uitgaande facturen klaar zodat deze alleen nagekeken hoeven worden en te worden verstuurd naar onze klanten. Daarnaast houd ik gegevens bij die gaan over het stroomverbruik en het afval van MCX. Zo af en toe krijg ik er een los uitzoekklusje bij, dat vind ik leuk om te doen.

In mijn vrije tijd ga ik graag met mijn fotocamera op pad om al het moois om mij heen vast te leggen. Ik heb een hybride camera en sinds vorig jaar heb ik er een digitale spiegelreflexcamera bij en vanaf mijn eerste kiekje ben ik helemaal weg van natuurfotografie. Ik heb zelfs een website waarop veel van mijn foto’s te zien zijn. ( www.simonefelder.nl )

Naast het fotograferen van de natuur, loop ik er ook graag hard. Zo loop ik twee keer per week een rondje van ongeveer tien kilometer in en om de prachtige bossen van Apeldoorn. In februari doe ik mee met de midwinter marathon, samen met een aantal collega’s die zich ook hebben opgegeven. Ook vind ik het gezellig om af en toe een terrasje te pakken met vrienden en vriendinnen.

My name is Simone, I am 46 years young and have been working at MCX since last summer. I came across this growing company through a job coach. This coach thought the vacancy for (financial) administrative employee suited me and after consultation she made contact between MCX and me.

The first meeting was very relaxed, we chatted for almost 1.5 hours! So a really warm welcome. The days that followed were exciting; did I have a new job or not? Fortunately, the good news finally came and I started working in mid-July.

I am mainly concerned with paying incoming invoices, administering in the accounting program, scanning files and adding them to the program. I also prepare outgoing invoices so that they only need to be checked and sent to our customers. In addition, I keep records about the power consumption and waste of MCX. Every now and then I get a separate sorting job, which I like to do.

In my spare time I like to go out with my camera to capture all the beauty around me. I have a hybrid camera and since last year I have a digital single-lens reflex camera and from my first snapshot I absolutely love nature photography. Besides photographing nature, I also like to run. For example, twice a week I walk around ten kilometers in and around the beautiful forests of Apeldoorn. In February I will participate in the midwinter marathon, together with a number of colleagues who have also signed up. I also enjoy having a drink on a terrace with friends every now and then.

Het wordt de hoogste tijd dat we bij MCX Deens gaan leren. De Danish Technical University, afgekort DTU, heeft gekozen voor Oracle Campus Solutions en wordt daarmee onze nieuwe klant die we, in samenwerking met CY2, gaan bedienen. DTU wordt internationaal erkend als een toonaangevende universiteit op het gebied van technische en natuurwetenschappen en staat bekend om hun bedrijfsgerichte aanpak, de focus op duurzaamheid en de bijzondere studieomgeving. De hoofdvestiging van DTU bevindt zich sinds de jaren 1970 in Kongens Lyngby, niet ver van de hoofdstad Kopenhagen. Daarom zeggen we: ‘Vi byder DTU varmt velkommen til MCX!’*

Ook SKEMA heeft voor MCX gekozen en daarmee stoffen we onze kennis van de Franse taal ook weer af. Daarnaast heeft het Radboud UMC aangegeven dat MCX het beheer van EBS mag blijven doen. Het Radboud hoeft dus geen aanbesteding uit te schrijven maar blijft ‘gewoon’ nog 3 jaar bij MCX met de optie van 2 jaar erbij.

It’s about time we start learning Danish at MCX. The Danish Technical University, known as DTU, has chosen Oracle Campus Solutions and will become our newest client — a project we will deliver in collaboration with CY2. DTU is internationally recognized as a leading university in technical and natural sciences, known for its business-oriented approach, strong focus on sustainability, and unique learning environment. Its main campus has been located in Kongens Lyngby, just outside Copenhagen, since the 1970s. So we say: “Vi byder DTU varmt velkommen til MCX!” — a warm welcome to MCX!

Radboud UMC has also confirmed that MCX will continue managing their EBS environment. There is no need for a new tender process; they will simply continue with us for another three years, with an option to extend for an additional two years.

MCX schaft nieuw ticketsysteem TOPdesk aan

Eén van de merkwaarden van MCX is: ‘Werk slimmer, niet harder. Alles wat je 2x moet doen, kun je automatiseren.’ De aanschaf van ons nieuwe ticketsysteem sluit erg goed aan bij deze merkwaarde. Met TOPdesk kunnen de tickets direct worden voorzien van standaard antwoorden waardoor onze klanten sneller reactie ontvangen. Het systeem biedt de mogelijkheid om het uitvoeren van wijzigingen te standaardiseren waardoor het risico op fouten nog kleiner wordt.

Alle klanten krijgen de beschikking over een Self Service Portal. Dit is een overzichtelijk dashboard waarin nieuwe tickets kunnen worden aangemaakt en bestaande tickets kunnen worden ingezien. De uitrol van TOPdesk zal in het najaar van 2021 plaatsvinden.

MCX purchases new ticket system

One of MCX's brand values is: 'Work smarter, not harder. You can automate everything you have to do twice.” The purchase of our new ticket system fits in very well with this brand value. With TOPdesk, the tickets can be immediately provided with standard answers, so that our customers receive a faster response. The system offers the possibility to standardize the execution of changes, which further reduces the risk of errors.

All customers have access to a Self Service Portal. This is a clear dashboard in which new tickets can be created and existing tickets can be viewed. The roll-out of TOPdesk will take place in the autumn of 2021.

MCX heeft een prachtige lijst met klanten

Klanten waar we heel trots op zijn. Aan dit indrukwekkende rijtje mogen we sinds kort drie nieuwe namen toevoegen.

Omdat MCX een specialist is in het Oracle beheer, hebben we mogen deelnemen aan een offertetraject voor het beheer van het Oostenrijkse INNIO. MCX is uiteindelijk geselecteerd om het IT beheer van de Oracle E-Business Suite van INNIO te mogen gaan voeren. Enshore is geselecteerd om het functionele beheer voor INNIO te gaan uitvoeren.

Ook Cannock heeft door middel van een Request for Proposal en een uitgebreide presentatie, MCX geselecteerd als haar nieuwe partner voor het complete Oracle database beheer.

Als laatste in deze rij met nieuwe klanten staat de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. Zij waren op zoek naar de mogelijkheden om de Oracle E-Business Suite te kunnen upgraden naar de nieuwste release. Na oplevering van het uitgebreide plan van aanpak en uitleg over de geautomatiseerde uitvoering van deze upgrade, heeft de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven besloten om de technische release door MCX te laten uitvoeren.

Stuk voor stuk indrukwekkende klanten waar we met veel enthousiasme en passie mee zullen gaan samenwerken.

MCX has a wonderful list of clients

MCX is extremely proud of its customer base. Just recently yet another three customers from various market segments signed a contract with MCX.

Being the Dutch technical specialist in Oracle administration gave MCX the opportunity to participate in a tender concerning the Oracle E-Business Suite administration for the Austrian based company INNIO. The contract was awarded to MCX after a careful selection process. The functional administration part of the contract is managed by Enshore.

Initiated by a Request for Proposal and complemented by consecutive presentations Cannock has chosen MCX to be their technical Oracle partner managing their entire Oracle database landscape.

Last but not least MCX has added the University of Technology in Eindhoven to its list of customers. Looking for possibilities to upgrade their Oracle E-Business Suite environments to the latest release using the expertise of MCX, they awarded this contract to MCX. The decision was made after providing an extensive upgrade plan with detailed explanation of the automated upgrade process.

Just like all our current customers, we will be helping them with great enthusiasm and passion.

Interview met De Volksbank: “MCX staat altijd in de meedenk-modus”

Vanaf de allereerste ontmoeting met MCX is Joep Risseeuw, Delivery Manager bij de Volksbank, onder de indruk. “Ik zag meteen dat MCX goed luisterde, proactief meedacht en doorvroeg op de juiste punten.” Dat goede gevoel beklijft gelukkig, want na ruim één jaar na deze eerste ontmoeting is Joep Risseeuw nog steeds tevreden over de samenwerking.

Technisch beheer Oracle Financial Services

De Volksbank is het moederbedrijf van SNS, ASN Bank, RegioBank en BLG Wonen en heeft ruim 3,2 miljoen klanten en meer dan 3000 medewerkers in dienst. Daarmee is het bedrijf de vierde bank van Nederland. Als Delivery Manager is Joep Risseeuw verantwoordelijk voor de continuïteit van circa vijftig ICT-applicaties en systemen. Eén van die applicaties is Oracle Financial Services, een financieel pakket met grootboek, debiteuren en crediteuren, waarvan MCX het technisch beheer op zich neemt.

Bedrijfskritische applicatie

“Het is ontzettend belangrijk dat de beschikbaarheid en continuïteit van dit systeem gewaarborgd wordt”, vertelt Risseeuw. “Het is geen systeem waar onze klanten direct mee te maken hebben, maar het is wel bedrijfskritisch, omdat we het gebruiken als ons grootboek. Het is een key applicatie in onze rapportage naar toezichthouders, zoals de ECB en de Nederlandse Bank. Daarmee bijvoorbeeld ook belangrijk voor het behouden van onze banklicentie.”

De meedenk-modus

De urgentie die Risseeuw schetst snapt MCX als geen ander. Door een proactief en eerlijk advies weet MCX de Volksbank te ontzorgen. Joep Risseeuw heeft daar zelfs een eigen term voor bedacht. Volgens hem staat MCX altijd in de ‘meedenk-modus’. “Als er iets is reageert het team van MCX altijd adequaat en snel. Ze signaleren en adviseren en denken continu met ons mee, altijd met het belang van onze klant in het achterhoofd. We zijn heel blij met die houding, want daardoor is er een hechte vertrouwensband ontstaan. MCX doet altijd wat ze zegt en belooft.”

Doelen en resultaat

Binnen de Volksbank is als doel gesteld dat de Oracle Financial Services applicatie 97 procent van de openingstijden beschikbaar moet zijn. Volgens Joep wordt daar ruimschoots aan voldaan: “We hebben natuurlijk het liefst een 100 procent volledige continuïteit en dat is het afgelopen jaar ook gerealiseerd. Mede dankzij MCX zijn de integriteit, vertrouwelijkheid en beschikbaarheid van de applicatie en de data geborgd. En dat is een uitstekend resultaat.”

Betrouwbaar én vriendelijk

Het geheim van de succesvolle samenwerking ligt volgens Risseeuw voor een groot deel aan de eerdergenoemde meedenk-modus van MCX. “Daardoor voel ik mij als klant altijd serieus genomen”, zegt hij. “Maar dat is het zeker niet alleen. MCX is een betrouwbare én vriendelijke leverancier. We werken heel prettig samen en dat zie je terug in de resultaten. Ik kijk met het volste vertrouwen naar de toekomst en onze nauwe samenwerking.”

From the very first meeting with MCX, Joep Risseeuw, Delivery Manager at de Volksbank, has been impressed. "I immediately saw that MCX listened carefully, thought proactively and asked about the right points." Fortunately, that good feeling lasts, because after more than a year after this first meeting, Joep Risseeuw is still satisfied with the collaboration.

Technical management Oracle Financial Services

De Volksbank is the parent company of SNS, ASN Bank, RegioBank and BLG Wonen and has more than 3.2 million customers and more than 3,000 employees. This makes the company the fourth largest bank in the Netherlands. As Delivery Manager, Joep Risseeuw is responsible for the continuity of approximately fifty ICT applications and systems. One of those applications is Oracle Financial Services, a financial package with ledger, debtors and creditors, of which MCX takes care of the technical management.

Business-critical application
“It is extremely important that the availability and continuity of this system is guaranteed,” says Risseeuw. “It is not a system that our customers deal with directly, but it is business critical because we use it as our general ledger. It is a key application in our reporting to regulators, such as the ECB and the Dutch Bank. This is also important for retaining our banking license, for example. ”

The think-along mode
MCX understands the urgency outlined by Risseeuw like no other. By providing proactive and honest advice, MCX is able to unburden de Volksbank. Joep Risseeuw even coined his own term for this. According to him, MCX is always in "think along mode". “If something is wrong, the MCX team always responds adequately and quickly. They identify and advise and continuously think along with us, always with the interests of our customer in mind. We are very happy with that attitude, because it has created a close relationship of trust. MCX always does what it says and promises. ”

Goals and result
The target within de Volksbank is that the Oracle Financial Services application should be available 97 percent of opening hours. According to Joep, this is more than met: “Of course we prefer to have 100 percent complete continuity and that was also achieved in the past year. Partly thanks to MCX, the integrity, confidentiality and availability of the application and data are guaranteed. And that is an excellent result. ”

Reliable and friendly

According to Risseeuw, the secret of the successful collaboration largely lies in the aforementioned MCX think-along mode. “As a result, I always feel taken seriously as a customer,” he says. “But it is certainly not only that. MCX is a reliable and friendly supplier. We work very well together and that is reflected in the results. I look to the future and our close cooperation with full confidence. ”

ISO normeringen MCX

Het is voor MCX belangrijk om een betrouwbare partner te zijn voor haar relaties. Deze betrouwbaarheid zorgt er immers voor dat we gewaardeerd worden. Zo zetten wij ons maximaal in voor onze taak en nemen we onze verantwoordelijkheden serieus.

ISO Normeringen

Een belangrijk onderdeel van deze betrouwbaarheid is het gebruik van een integraal managementsysteem dat ervoor zorgt dat de dienstverlening steeds op een hoger niveau komt. In dit managementsysteem worden diverse deelgebieden van de dienstverlening gecontroleerd en meerdere keren per jaar wordt er een audit uitgevoerd door interne en externe partijen. Het bevat de volgende normen en raamwerken:

ISO 9001 (kwaliteit)
ISO 14001 (milieu)
ISO 20000 (service management)
ISO 22301 (bedrijfscontinuïteit)
ISO 27001/NEN 7510/PCI-DSS/SOC2 (informatiebeveiliging)
MVO (maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen)

Begin december hebben de externe audits voor de ISO normeringen weer plaatsgevonden. Deze audits waren onderdeel voor de hercertificering van de bestaande normeringen en tevens een certificering voor een nieuwe norm, de ISO 22301. MCX heeft alle audits met succes af kunnen ronden waardoor we voor de komende jaren deze certificaten weer kunnen gebruiken. Daar zijn we natuurlijk trots op!

In januari 2021wordt er nog een audit uitgevoerd voor ons jaarlijks SOC2 rapport over 2020. De verwachting is dat we deze rapportage in februari 2021 weer aan onze relaties kunnen sturen.

We zijn ervan overtuigd dat we hiermee goed op onze toekomst en die van onze relaties, zijn voorbereid.

ISO standards MCX

It is important for MCX to be a reliable partner for its relations. After all, this reliability ensures that we are appreciated. In this way we are fully committed to our task and we take our responsibilities seriously.

ISO Standards

An important part of this reliability is the use of an integrated management system that ensures that the service provision is always at a higher level. In this management system, various sub-areas of the services are checked and an audit is carried out several times a year by internal and external parties. It includes the following standards and frameworks:

ISO 9001 (quality)
ISO 14001 (environment)
ISO 20000 (service management)
ISO 22301 (business continuity)
ISO 27001 / NEN 7510 / PCI-DSS / SOC2 (information security)
CSR (corporate social responsibility)

The external audits for the ISO standards took place again at the beginning of December. These audits were part of the recertification of the existing standards and also a certification for a new standard, ISO 22301. MCX was able to successfully complete all audits so that we can use these certificates again for the coming years. We are of course proud of that!

In January 2021, another audit will be performed for our annual SOC2 report for 2020. It is expected that we will be able to send this report back to our relations in February 2021.

We are convinced that this will prepare us well for our future and that of our relations.

Wijziging telefoonnummers voor melden van storingen

MCX hecht veel waarde aan eerlijk zakendoen en duurzaamheid en streeft ernaar dit actief uit te dragen naar haar omgeving. Dit MVO-jaarverslag is daarom met grote zorg samengesteld.

Vanaf 3 augustus hebben we gewijzigde telefoonnummers voor het melden van storingen. Zo krijgen Peoplesoft gebruikers hun eigen nummer voor het aanmelden van storingen.

Het telefoonnummer voor internationale gebruikers, +31 10 – 429 33 81, komt te vervallen. Deze gebruikers kunnen voortaan +31 55 799 80 16 bellen voor het melden van storingen. De situatie komt er dan als volgt uit te zien:

Het is mogelijk dat deze wijziging voor een verstoring in het telefonisch contact zorgt. Stuur in dit geval een e-mail naar operator@mcx.nl . Wij nemen dan contact op.

Verlopen certificaten

Op zaterdag 30 mei zijn er twee certificaten verlopen. Het gaat om de 'AddTrust External CA Root' en de 'COMODO RSA Certification Authority' intermediate certificaten die wereldwijd gebruikt worden. Volgens de vooraankondiging van de CA-authoriteit zouden 'moderne clients', zoals up-to-date browsers en Java-clients, hier geen moeilijkheden van ondervinden. Helaas heeft het koppelingen verkeer hier wel degelijk last van gehad.

Er is gebleken dat de configuratie van de software, die de validatie doet van deze certificaten, niet tijdig was bijgewerkt. Na aanpassing van deze configuratie door MCX werken alle koppelingen weer zoals het hoort.

Normaal gesproken komt het niet voor dat de verlopen certificaten zorgen voor problemen. Alleen in dit geval zat het probleem in de ‘certificate chain’. Certificaten worden, net als paspoorten, uitgegeven door organisaties die daarvoor geautoriseerd zijn. Door de groei van het Internet is ervoor gekozen om een deel van de uitgifte van certificaten bij ‘intermediates’ te beleggen. Onderstaand plaatje toont, op hoog niveau, de relatie tussen de diverse soorten certificaten inclusief de gemiddelde levensduur.

Zoals al aangegeven was het probleem terug te vinden in de server software die onvoldoende was bijgewerkt. Hierdoor konden verbindingen tussen servers voor koppelingenverkeer niet tot stand worden gebracht.

Certificates expired

On Saturday 30th May, two certificates expired: the 'AddTrust External CA Root' and the 'COMODO RSA Certification Authority'. Both are intermediate certificates that are used worldwide. According to the CA authority's preliminary announcement, 'modern clients', such as up-to-date browsers and Java clients, should remain unaffected. Unfortunately, the connection between systems did suffer from this.

It turned out that the software configuration that validates these certificates had not been updated in time. MCX have since adjusted this configuration to ensure all connections operate as normal.

Expired certificates do usually not cause problems, however, in this case, the problem resided in the 'certificate chain'. Certificates, just like passports, are issued by organisations that are authorized to do so. Due to the growth of the Internet, it had been decided to subcontract part of the issuance of certificates to 'intermediaries'. The picture below shows, at a high level, the relationship between the various types of certificates, including their average lifespan.

As indicated above, the problem could be traced back to the server software, which had been insufficiently updated. As a result, connection errors occurred between servers.

Critical vulnerability in Oracle E-Business Suite. Patch is necessary

MCX recommends that the same patch implement the SameSite Cookie in the Oracle E-Business Suite. This makes your environment less prone to cross-site request forgery (CSRF).

There is a patch for both EBS 12.1 and 12.2 available.
