No news is good news, certainly when it comes to technical management

From sales to field service to inventory management and contract management, at DP Pumps virtually everything revolves around the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS). An application that can rightfully be called business-critical. To everyone’s satisfaction MCX have been looking after DP Pumps technical management for more than 10 years.

DP Pumps develops and produces stainless steel centrifugal pumps and pressure boosting systems for applications involving drinking and process water. The offices and factory, both located in Alphen aan de Rijn, the Netherlands, deliver a wide range of pumps and installations for complete water transport solutions. They employ around 45 technicians, and export pumps and systems to 100 countries.

Oracle is the heart of the organisation
As already described in the introduction, the Oracle E-Business Suite forms the digital heart of the organisation. The EBS is used to its full extent as an ERP package across the entire organisation. Imagine if the E-Business Suite broke down, the entire organisation would come to a standstill. Fortunately, this has never happened, but it means that DP Pumps need to take the technical management of its applications very seriously. That is one reason why in 2006, the pump producer decided to outsource the technical management to MCX.

At first, the cooperation was based on a support contract, which later became a complete management contract. Niels Breedijk, IT manager at DP Pumps explains: "We used to own the technical management ourselves, but the sheer breath of the Oracle E-Business Suite arrived at a point where its management became too complicated. Our knowledge was too limited to guarantee high quality management."

No news is good news
Since MCX took over the technical management, we have had no relationship issues to report. "No news is good news, most certainly when it comes to this kind of cooperation. This therefore should be interpreted as a great compliment", explains Niels. "The cooperation has always run smoothly. There is simply never any fuss. If problems occur, they will always be picked up immediately. The response time is extremely fast, bringing the service level of MCX above average. All I can say is that I am more than satisfied."

Migration to EBS 12.13
Has anything challenging ever happened in all that time? Niels takes some time to think, then points out that the migration to Oracle E-Business Suite 12.13 was a challenging project for DP Pumps, but business as usual for MCX. Within nine months, the migration was completed with three interim iterations. "Once more, there is nothing special to report, everything ran smoothly. Our employees were not affected by the migration."

Not only technical management
Niels continues: "Besides the smooth cooperation in technical management, we also rely on MCX to be a huge repository of specialist knowledge. Think about the periodic Oracle license-checks, or the replacement of hardware for example. Even if our questions are not always within the scope of MCX, we always get expert advice, which is incredibly valuable."
