From sales to field service to inventory management and contract management: virtually everything at DP-Pumps runs on Oracle's E-Business Suite (EBS). It can therefore rightly be called a business-critical application. MCX has been providing the technical management of this for over 10 years. And for all those years, it has been to everyone's satisfaction.

DP-Pumps develops and manufactures stainless steel centrifugal pumps and pressure boosting systems for drinking and process water applications. The organization and the factory, both located in Alphen aan de Rijn in the Netherlands, supply a wide range of pumps and systems for complete water transport solutions. In total, they employ approximately 45 technicians and export the pumps and systems to 100 countries.

Oracle as the heart of the organization

As described in the introduction, the Oracle E-Business Suite is essentially the digital heart of the organization. The EBS is used across the board as an ERP package for the entire organization. Suppose the E-Business Suite were to fail, virtually the entire organization would grind to a halt. Fortunately, it never came to that, but it does mean that DP-Pumps must take the technical management of the applications very seriously. That is also one of the reasons why the pump manufacturer chose to outsource technical management to MCX in 2006.

Initially, the collaboration was based on a support contract. Later, this was converted into a full management contract. Niels Breedijk, IT Manager at DP-Pumps, explains: “Before that, we handled technical management in-house, but due to the scale of Oracle E-Business Suite, management eventually became too complex. Furthermore, our expertise was too limited to guarantee high-quality management.”

No news is good news

Since MCX took over technical management, there is actually nothing remarkable to report regarding the relationship. “No news is good news, especially when it comes to this type of partnership. In this case, that is therefore a great compliment,” says Niels. “The collaboration has always gone flawlessly. There is simply never any hassle. If there are problems, they are always addressed immediately. The response time is super fast, making MCX’s service level above average. I can only say that I am extremely satisfied.”

Migration to EBS 12.13

Has nothing exciting ever happened in all that time, then? Niels has to think for a moment, but then mentions the migration to Oracle E-Business Suite 12.13. An exciting process for DP-Pumps, but for MCX, business as usual. The migration was completed in nine months with three interim iterations. “Here too, no particular issues; everything went perfectly. Our employees experienced no disruption from the migration.”

Not only technical management

Niels continues: “Beyond the seamless collaboration for technical management, we also use MCX as a vast repository of specialized knowledge. Think of periodic Oracle license checks, or for instance when replacing hardware. Although our questions do not always fall within the scope of MCX, we always receive expert advice. That is incredibly valuable.”
