The professionalism of the MCX team deserves high praise.
ROC Rijn IJssel decided to move the Student Information System (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions) to the MCX cloud environment. This involved the complete management of both the infrastructure and the technical application management. An important principle was that end users would not notice the transition. “The physical migration of the application and infrastructure to MCX went flawlessly,” says a satisfied Hans Vieth.
Vulnerability
“We were one of the few ROCs that still managed PeopleSoft Campus Solutions in-house,” begins Hans Vieth, Student Affairs Policy Officer. “That worked fine for years, but over time, the realization grew that we were becoming increasingly vulnerable. This is partly due to the fact that one of the two technical administrators is retiring soon.” Initially, the ROC went looking for a replacement. But that proved to be a laborious exercise. “A good technical administrator is expensive. And on top of that, you run the risk that they will leave the organization again.” To still be able to guarantee 100 percent quality, Hans Vieth and his colleagues were put in touch with MCX through a partner. That partner was CY2, a consultancy firm for Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
Cooperation
Hans explains: “We essentially gave CY2 complete freedom to decide who they would bring on board for technical management. We assumed that it would be a high-quality partner, just like CY2 itself. I was actually already familiar with MCX, though. Many other ROCs already work with them, and they were all satisfied.”
Professional team
Although the end users noticed virtually nothing of the go-live, the IT staff had frequent and intensive contact with the men from MCX. “That went very professionally. The project leader was firmly in control, and the rest of the team knew exactly what was going on. The team's professionalism was particularly evident in the joint meetings. These were always prepared down to the last detail, and they really showed how they can successfully complete a project from A to Z without any problems. In that respect, we have all actually learned a lot from them. Our level of process-oriented thinking has improved thanks to MCX.”
Future
Now that MCX has taken over the entire management, ROC Rijn IJssel can count on certainty. “We are no longer dependent on leave, retirement, or any form of absence whatsoever within our technical management team. And that provides a nice sense of security.” And Hans Vieth’s vision for the future? “The upgrade of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions application is scheduled for this year. I look forward to that project with full confidence as well. The men at MCX are true professionals who always go that extra mile. They deserve a big compliment.”
