Who advises you on your cloud platform, and where does that party’s interest lie?

Good cloud advice does not start with the platform, but with what your organisation needs.

Look beyond the platform

When choosing a cloud solution, you are not relying on technology alone. You are also relying on the advice of the organisation helping you make that choice. That is why it is important to understand where that organisation’s interests lie.

A provider that sells one specific platform naturally has an interest in seeing workloads run on that platform. That does not necessarily make its advice any less sound. But it does make it important to understand the position from which that advice is being given.

For your organisation, ultimately, a different question matters: which choice best supports our continuity, risk profile, costs and future plans?

The advice starts with your organisation
For us, a cloud decision therefore does not begin with choosing between OCI, Azure, private cloud or on-premises.

It begins with what your organisation needs.

MCX provides managed services across a range of platforms: on-premises, in our own private cloud, on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and on Microsoft Azure. Our services therefore do not revolve around one specific platform, but around designing, migrating and managing Oracle environments in the location that best suits the organisation.

This gives us the freedom to focus on the substance first: continuity, compliance, security, performance, manageability and costs. Only then do we consider which platform is the best fit.

Sometimes that assessment leads to the public cloud. Sometimes to a hybrid environment. And sometimes the best choice is to leave an existing environment unchanged for the time being.

So the answer is not predetermined.

Independent does not mean we have no position
We are an Oracle Partner with in-depth expertise in Oracle technology and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. We can also support organisations with the procurement of Oracle Cloud Services.

We are deliberately transparent about this.

After all, in-depth knowledge of a platform and an independent advisory role do not have to be mutually exclusive. What matters is where the advice begins: with the platform that can be sold, or with the outcome your organisation needs.

For MCX, the latter is our starting point.

Precisely because we can manage Oracle environments across different platforms, we do not need to steer a cloud decision towards a predetermined outcome.

Keeping your options open for the future
A cloud decision is not just about finding the best solution for today.

Your organisation will change. Laws and regulations may change. Requirements concerning data and digital sovereignty may change. And technology, costs and the cloud market will continue to evolve.

A choice that makes sense today should therefore not leave you unnecessarily locked in tomorrow.

That is why, when designing an environment, we also consider the flexibility that an architecture provides over the longer term. What dependencies will it create? Which decisions can still be changed later? And what would be required to move workloads in a controlled way if circumstances demand it?

In our view, an exit strategy does not begin when you decide you want to leave. It should form part of a considered cloud strategy from the outset.

No preference for a platform. A clear preference for the right outcome.
Ultimately, independent advice is not just about an adviser’s intentions.
It is about whether their services genuinely give them the freedom to recommend different outcomes.
That is why our services are not dependent on a single platform. It allows us to keep returning to the question that should be at the heart of every cloud decision:

What does your organisation need to keep its environment predictable, manageable and reliable, both today and over the longer term?

And if the answer is OCI, we recommend OCI. If a hybrid environment is a better fit, we recommend a hybrid approach. And if making changes at this point would deliver insufficient benefit, then that too should be a possible recommendation.

Because ultimately, it should not be the interests of the platform that come first, but those of your organisation.
